I think y'all are WAY overestimating how much coverage this hiring will get. Even without NFL playoffs and BCS national championship game going on, Tennessee hiring a coordinator is the kind of story that gets :30 on Sportscenter at X:51, right before the commercial break before Top Plays to finish the show. There is no chance in hell that ESPN is going to talk about a 5-7 team hiring an assistant coach on the day of the national championship game they've been hyping for weeks.
Now I'm sure Dooley has good reasons for when this news will get announced. But those reasons have to do with communicating the news to current players, current commits, and other prospects and scheduling the announcement around his current recruiting efforts. Dooley isn't holding this back because he thinks ESPN is going to interrupt the national championship game coverage to announce his new staff members.
