Scenario is not different for every school.

Penn State should have likely held onto Franklin but then again if they continued to lose, I think it would have been inevitable. LSU was in a similar situation but eventually the coaches start to lose the team which Brian Kelly had happen to him at LSU (once fans and players turn on you, it is hard to survive or even have success).

Florida - Napier needed to go a year ago.

Florida State - Norvell likely needs to go.

Kentucky - I can see Stoops gone.

Arkansas - This one was iffy to me but it is hard to ignore that Notre Dame loss. They will likely just hire Petrino.

Oklahoma State - Terrible, needed new coach

UCLA - Terrible, needed new coach

Out of all listed, Penn State is the only one that made a glaring mistake with their firing. I think Brian Kelly could have hung on at LSU had the fans/team not quit on him. Their high expectations also hurt him.

I am curious to see if Auburn pulls the trigger on Freeze and if Oklahoma starts to consider firing Venables should they drop 2-3 more games. I do think Oklahoma should hold onto Venables.

Heupel isn't anywhere near the hot seat. I get people complaining about him and there are question marks but he is no where close to being fired. He is more likely to get an extension and pay increase than get fired.
Listen to Josh Pate on Kelly and then let me know how you feel.

LSU has highest upside. Penn State is the most stable of the 3 to walk into and almost win right away.

Florida to my joy is so screwed with these other schools ripping bandaid off.
I’m not so sure about Penn Stare being win right away. The right coach with the portal can win anywhere right away. Florida or LSU would both be easier imo to win a title at.

The is slap crazy. Consider...

NIL has completely changed college football. It truly is "any given Saturday". Heck, Kentucky took Texas to the wire last week. South Carolina played tough against Alabama. Tennessee (with it's atrocious defense) was one bad kick away from putting Georgia away. NIL has leveled the playing field.

These schools are nuts thinking they can spend millions on buyouts and bring in some guy that is going to win like the past two decades. Those days are over. Who in the world are they going to hire?

Florida and Florida State and LSU and Penn State and Arkansas and Oklahoma State can't all buy a coach that will all the games...somebody's gonna win and somebody's got to loose. I predict the CFP is going to easily consist of teams with three or more losses in the near future.

Gone are the days when you lost one game and your season was over. This looks more and more like the NFL (like it or not) with each passing season.

As a Tennessee fan, I would love to see Heupel continue to grow personally. I'd like for him to make adjustments on defense (was last year an anomoly?). I'd like for him to care more about penalities. I like for his teams to be more prepared on the road. But as for seeking his resignation, he would have to have more than one bad year, and would have to be showing regression before I ever want to return to the days of Dooley, Jones, or Pruitt.

I can't name a single NCAA coach that I would rather have leading the Tennessee Volunteers than Coach Josh Heupel. He doesn't act like an idiot on the sidelines. He's always got his players back. He never berates them during the game. His players stay out of prison. He produces fantastic offenses year after year and has made Tennessee football more exciting to watch in twenty years.

Please volnation, let's not sink to the lows that we are seeing around the league.
Yes let these team fight and scratch over replaces coaching staffs. All staffs can always improve, but sometimes it pays off to be patient. Especially if you’re winning more than losing. Heck bama fans were ready to fire their coach after FSU, and if they had of lost to South Carolina there would be some melting down today.Yes, there comes a time in the competitive SEC that you have to make decisions over a period of time, but the trigger is quickly pulled these days and it is going to backfire on some. Coaching the SEC or any major college team isn’t easy, finding a better replacement first time isn’t a slam dunk. I am glad at this time we aren’t on the position and our program has improved and Heupel and staff love it here. In our case at this point in time today, stability is a good thing. It could easily help in recruiting down the stretch as well it might help with a few big portal pickups. GBO

Yet we are still ranked #14. A lot of people, other than you, seem to think we have a pretty good football team, despite all the injuries. Maybe the offense will continue to score enough points to win and the defense can continue to get turnovers and score a few points. Regardless, the team as performed better than 80 % for the Nation predicted. Saturday will be a big challenge, but I believe we come out winners.

I tend to agree we have a great offense but our defense is under performing. You need to make changes (not necessarily firing coaches but something has to be done) to correct these issues or we will still continue to drop games against our rivals.

Hate Kiffin, so hope he goes to Baton Rouge so we hardly ever have to see him and, deal with his brash ass in the East. Finebaum today rated these three schools in this order as to which is the best opportunity for a new coach:

LSU
Gators
Penn State
Just remember we are moving to he 9 game new SEC system next year. Fla will not be a every year game after this year.

What! Clemson, Indiana, Michigan State, Virginia ranked higher that us? I don’t believe this!
Seems like was for the 2023 - 2024 season. Power 5 confrences.

My initial impression after going through the NIL market data and subsequent calculations was that these estimates were high. But then I looked and saw that the goal of the University of Tennessee collective is $ 25 million and that they believe the goal is “absolutely attainable”. I also saw that the Ohio State football coach recently stated they need $ 13 million in NIL money just to “maintain” their football roster. Using the 66% Power 5 average of NIL money allocated to Football, this translates into just under $ 20 million in NIL dollars to all Ohio State sports – very close to the estimate contained in this table. A little more spot checking revealed credible reports of Auburn raising over $ 13 million and Ole Miss raising over $ 10 million in NIL Collective money – both figures are higher the estimates contained in this table.

Note: The average funding per collective will decline substantially with the advent of revenue sharing beginning in the 2025-26 academic year. NIL collectives became a factor in college sports as they performed a function that schools were prohibited from doing themselves. However, with revenue sharing, schools can directly compensate athletes up to $ 20.5 million annually, and the reliance on collectives will be significantly reduced going forward. Schools are facing steep new financial obligations, and most will be looking to redirect booster contributions currently going to collectives, back to the schools to help pay for revenue sharing and increased scholarship commitments.”

The NIL and transfer portal have totally changed college football.

Lets go back 10-20 years ago. If a blue blood job came open, the blue blood could almost take thier pick from 4-5 top tier coaches who would run to the job, the reasons? Recruiting base, fan support, legacy, big time booster support, lastly, money.

Fast forward to 2025. Vandy and Indiana are in the top 9 this week. Vandy and Indiana. Indianas coach just signed a contract giving him enough
Money for the rest of his life. If Indiana falls down to an 8-4 or 7-5 program after this year, he will most likely still be a hero in Indiana and get yearly extensions until he retires. 9-10 million a year in a far less pressure cooker as compared to a LSU or Penn St.

Now, if he goes to LSU or UF, he has 1-2 years to get his team in the playoffs, then another 1-2 years to win an SEC title or minimally final 4 or final 2 in the playoffs, all while possibly earning 2-3 more million a year(most of which will be eaten up in tax).

Same for Clark Lee. He is a Vandy grad. Even if Vandy goes back to 6-6 or 7-5 after this yeat, he has a job for life. Plenty of cash and live in nashville is not a bad gig,

You can even throw Bama and Ohio St in this mix. Just go back to the end of August, Bama fans and everyone at the SEC network and ESPN were ready to throw the first rock through DeBoors office window and run his ass out of town.

The main point is that both Vandy and Indiana has proven that you dont have to be at a blue blood program any longer to compete on the national stage, if you don't win immediately at Bama, OSU, Penn St, LSU, UF, to name a few, you are a piece of crap. Go to Vandy, Indiana, get your team in the playoff mix, you are a hero.

You do realize we will see him the same number of times as every SEC school not named Bama, VU and KY right. There is No E or W anymore. C’mon man..,,,,,

The contract buyouts and demands-for-coaching-turnover-periods are starting to get a bit out of control:

To make it even crazier is that A LOT of people are out of work or struggling, and schools are using the hard earned money of the fans to pay millions to coaches to go away so that they can find another coach to pay millions to until they don't win. Rinse repeat.
