They need to beat them in regulation. 20-30 yards out is easily enough for Clemson’s offense to (more-regularly) score, and there’s no great guarantee Georgia Tech’s offense would each time either.

Of course I’d want them to win in regulation, but they’re pretty good at short yardage

I get what you’re saying, but I’m not sure they are enough to easily respond the first 2 overtimes if Clemson had scored, without some sort of drive stalling.

They might be better at the position only-2-point-conversion-plays section of the overtime, but their defense likely also wasn’t a sure thing to do a great job stopping Clemson’s RB from that far out either.
