Good call...jk

As of Monday, Shanks was a backup for Goldman. Goldman is visiting Aub and Bama again this weekend so imo Jimbo didn't feeling FSU was top dog atp. Nothing against Shanks but if Goldman would have "committed" to FSU during his visit Shanks would still be looking at Au and UT. With 16 commits they only have 5 spots open atp.
TW...Bama's worry will be similar to UF's. If Aubbie keeps winning on the field and on the recruiting trail, Bama will lose momentum. I think this is happening in Florida as I speak but not yet in your neck of the woods.
The perception to me is obvious in college football...if you're not #1 in your own backyard, no matter how good you may be, you will eventually begin to slide. HG had a point...it was only one mediocre year. But, how quick it comes to haunt you...they're now picked to finish 3rd in the SEC's weakest division and no one is scared of them anymore. Jeez...many on this board can't wait to play them this year!
Seems like only yesterday Timmy and Urbie had the world by the tail...

You know what florida did during fsu's string of top 5 finishes?
Win 6 sec titles, finish first once (1990) and win 1 national title.
You know what miami did during that time?
Win 3 national titles and play for another.
There is enough talent in the state for all of them. Hell, right now they are all sitting on top 5 recruiting classes

Agree partially....The state of fla never supplied enough ammo for 3 top fla teams....late 80s early 90s it was FSU/UM..UF was good but not loaded....Mid late 90s it was all FSU/UF...miami on probation....Early 00s it was Miami all alone....Mid-00s-Current UF was all alone....Now FSU has momentum will they win we shall see but I will tell you that UF and FSU are lapping UM regardless of their top 5 class as of now in terms of lean quality
There was a reason yesterday he said he didn't want a press conference. That should have gave it away if I would have thought about it. Could you imagine him putting on the FSU hat in Prattville, AL?
*crickets*
All 3 are in the top 5 in wins since 1980. Florida probation, miami probation, and bobby bowden getting old were the only things that slowed those programs down.
Larry coker, randy shannon and ron zook too.
One of them being up has nothing to do with another being down

So the guy who won a NC at Miami slowed them down? Interesting logic there.. And you can't really think one being up and the other being down aren't connected can you?

It makes sense for him to leave the state. ALL hell would have broken out if he put on a AU hat at his press conference. :gun: :boxing2:
You do know Auburn isn't that far from Prattville don't you? They've pulled good talent from there before. Tez Doolittle was a 4-star I remember off the top of my head. The world wouldn't end down there if he had put on the Auburn hat.

Tez was from Opelika....PHS has been a Bama pipeline for over 20 years. Ask any Aubbie fan and they'll tell...They don't understand how a school metro Montgomery could be so pro-Bama.
