12:40 Jeremy Pruitt discusses "new" staff and responsibilities

I liked Pruitt's defensive play calling. Will be interesting to see how they split duties. Basically have two guys splitting DC/DB duties.

what is surprising is how many people think that being in charge of special teams is some minor job like inflating footballs or filling drink bottles...... its not ! its an extremely important job on the staff.
But defensive coordinator is a bigger job. So like I said he took a demotion. He didn’t get a paycut though so it doesn’t really matter unless he has a big ego.

He brought up a good point that spring practice will be a continuation from last years progress. As compared to starting from scratch and teaching kids how to practice and certain basics ect that wasted valuable time in the spring.

One thing I noticed, no one was labeled Recruiting Coordinator. Are they no longer making that designation? Hell, give it to Nieds, even if it is just a justification for a raise. He deserves one for his recruiting.

I think Sherrer sticks. His pay Che k ain’t changed just a title and still a coordinator. Interesting Tee will prolly have an asst. HC title too. I think they grooming him for HC when Pruitt goes home to bama in a few seasons.
i said in another thread Tee could possibly work his way up here like fulmer did. i think the asst hc title is the start.

I'm now confused. Thought you were talking about Chaney in the other thread?

I like this a lot. To me it shows that Pruitt is growing in his abilities as a coach. I get him wanting to control everything but him realizing that he can do more by surrounding himself with great coaches is very promising

No. He was saying Chaney would leave in a couple of seasons for a HC opportunity.

Then why did you tell me I was wrong in thinking he was talking about Tee when I responded to the post Lexy made about "him taking the same route as Fulmer moving up through the ranks". I said he must be talking about Tee and you said No, Chaney?

Dammit. Am I gonna hafta ho look for that exchange?

Tee Martin job title

You can start on #106 and follow it to #124, read mine, yours, Beecher's and Lexy and see where I might be confused, or not.

He wasn’t talking about TEE leaving for a HC opportunity. He was talking about Tee taking over for Chaney at OC when Chaney leaves for a HC job. You know we have to stay ON TRACK when it goes OFF TRACK.

Chaney may leave. But I think he's one of those guys who realize their limitations. IMO it won't be for a HC job.

Interesting thing to me is how many high end coaches believe in Pruitt enough to come coach for a program struggling as badly as UT has in recent years. Almost as if maybe... they respect and believe in him. It is also impressive that Pruitt doesn't hesitate to replace guys or upgrade coaches when he can.

i said chaney might leave and decide to give ole head coaching a shot and tee would then slide in as OC.

Whoa on Tee to OC or HC. If Pruitt wanted Tee as OC, he would have picked him than Chaney. I love Tee as a VFL, I am not sold on him yet other than a position coach. He did not do well as OC when he got the chance. As long as Pruitt is sucessful, Chaney will be here for awhile. He even sent his kids to UT. Chaney will retire in Knoxville. Hope it is after many successful seasons.

Pretty sure everybody concedes it’s a gradual thing. I believe Fulmer wants Tee groomed for a bigger eventual role...my guess HC. Cuz any decent AD has a succession plan. Had to smart for Fulmer not to even interview Tee for the HC position, because he wasn’t remotely qualified. At USC, they placated Tee to retain his recruiting, but there was never an effort to qualify him imo. He wasn’t in their plans.

Whoa. It looks like we have been finetunning our staff and now we have someone who wants to take it back to where it has been for the last 10 years. What goes with this love relationship with Tee. He got fired at USC because he could not handle the CoOC position there.
