'11 TN OL Mack Crowder

First of all we're not recruiting Crowder as a DT but I saw the same play. It's called a trap play and Hayworth pulled blind side to Crowder. Traditionally a 300 lb pulling guard is supposed to knock whomever they trap on their A--, especially with the blind side advantage. But instead the trap block ended with neither lineman going anywhere and the running back had to cut back inside because the Mack Truck didn't move an inch. Give Hayworth credit though because he did hit solid and could be a potential future Vol prospect. Crowder did not make the tackle on this particular play but did cause major congestion. Still a 3 yard gain play up the middle. Of the 60 offensive plays ran by DB, 58 of those were wide around the end, away from Crowder.

#75? haha - Crowder pancaked #75 probably 10 times (maybe more). The only time #75 "stood up" Crowder was never. Don't confuse pass blocking and pass protection for getting stood up.

Don't get your panties in a wad dude... I just posted what I saw and #75 DID stand him up a couple of times.. He played pretty well considering he was going against a big time D1 OL prospect.. For the person who said that it's common or normal for a smaller player to get underneath big guys like that.... Well maybe so but I've seen a couple of big time D1 OL prospects play in my time and generally they dominate and maul their competition...

All that said it's not my intention to bad mouth Mack. I think he will do well at UT. Some of you crack me up. You get all butt hurt when you think someone is being the least little bit negative (objective) to one of our commits..

All is well guys...

Dude, the truth is your own panties are in a wad and clouding your vision. The only time Mack Truck didn't steam roll was when he was providing pass protection. You interpret an occasion when your player was not being steam rolled he was having success? I can understand you trying to promote your Kingsport guys being from Kingsport and all but don't come on here and diminish our recruits with false information. #75 didn't come close to making a tackle all night long.

hey im a db alum and former football player at DB... me and my buddy went to the DB south game and i was really impressed with number 1 cannon kid that plays for DB..also there was a couple of DB's OLINE that where some big boys and where blockin great.

do you know how old cannon is?

There was no mistake that Mack Truck was the best lineman on the field at his last game even though his team got beat. It takes 11. One or Two can't make it happen alone especially if that one or two are a Center and a TE. BUT the DB team may have a couple potential D1 candidates. I guess time will tell.

Not sure how old he is. A friend of mine that follows DB much closer than I do said he's got talent but grades are his issue...

Listen, I have no players out there and I'm definately not trying to promote, as you put it, "my Kingsport guys". I started a thread for Tyler Hayworth because one, he didn't have one and two, THS and DB were getting ready to play. The only thing I've really said about him was that he looked good..

With the exception of my 30th reunion, this is the first game I've been to this year. Also, if you would actually READ my previous posts I plainly state that I am NOT a recruiting buff at all and I would definately defer to the opinion of the staff. They like Mack, so I do to... I just didn't see, IMO, a 'dominating' performance..

Is this plain enough for you Skippy or do I need to draw it in crayons?

I'm done with you..

Looking through your Kingsport glasses what would a "dominating performance" have looked like to you Skippy during your 30th reunion if you had seen a "dominating performance"? If you're not a "recruiting buff" how do you know what a "dominating performance" is for an Offensive Center that we are recruiting? I'm just asking, since you obviously have taken time to make your comments public about a non-Kingsport player.

Well I'm just looking forward to the time that Mack is a red-shirt freshman and weighs about 295lbs and is the starting center for UT. Hell be benching about 400lbs after puttin on an extra 25-30lbs of muscle and nobody will ever remember this stuff.

If DB has a guy starting on their D-line and they are one of the top ranked teams in 6A and their guy weighs 300lbs or more then he damn sure better win a play or two against whoever he lines up near and I don't care if it's against the best lineman in the country. If he can't at least do that then they need to sit his fat a** down.

If Mack won every play then he would grade out at 100% and I've never ever seen an OL grade out a perfect 100%
It just don't happen.

How strong is this kid? WE need someone that can dance with some REAL Monsters in the middle in this league. We really have not had a great center since Wells IMO. It appears that when we have someone over the nose, our running game always has to be bounced outside.

Steeler, when this happens, I'll be one of the first to get up and cheer for the local boy.. I LIKE Mack Crowder.. I think he is exactly the type of player UT needs. I am tickled to death that local guys, like Mack and Brendan sp., are getting oppotunities to play bigtime college ball.. It was NEVER my intention to disrespect Mack. I just gave an opinion on what I saw.. If, by his senior year, the Hayworth kid develops into the kind of player Mack is I would hope you boys from Bristol would be happy for him to if he gets offers like Mack has...

Folks on here need to be a bit more 'thick skinned' about all this... Me included I guess..

I like to watch Mack Crowder's LAST YEAR highlight tape here's another look. YouTube - Mack Crowder 2009 Regular Junior Season clip 1 of 2

We can sure use him right now. Mack was chosen by Dooley after a UT camp and after spending two hours with Coach Hiestand and several cameras from different angles. I think he may be one of the top ranked (by position) recruits that we pick up this year.
:air_kiss:

Looks likes he plays to the whistle on every play. I do not know the size of the guys he is playing against, but surely looks like a pancaker.GBO:lolabove:

Not sure you guys realize our dearth of talent at center. Crowder will start as a freshman barring an unforeseen miracle JUCO falling into our laps.

Who do they play next?

They play Sullivan Central at home in the Tennessee High School Stone Castle.

P.S. I understand Mack Truck is already enrolled and accepted and will be in classes at UT this January and in Spring training. I understand enrollment requirements were met with his 4.0 GPA. Two older brothers play Ivy League football (Princeton and Cornell).

IMHO, Gooch will develop into a pretty good C. If so, Pope is pretty much done at UT. I am not sure how Crowder fits in... but am sure that if he is ready to play... he'll play- ALOT.

Crowder definitely has the quickness off the ball. IMHO I think they will need to bulk him up another 15 lbs first because he's playing around 265 lbs right now. He's listed at 270 in his program and on Rivals and Scout. But all linemen loose down (usually) during the season don't they? One thing is you don't see any fat on Crowder he sure looks the part.

I agree with you that Gooch could develop into a reliable Center by next year.

I was excited about Gooch.

He is not a guy with anything like the upside of Crowder.

Crowder will join Fulton, Stone, James etc and be on the line so that he will be a salty and experienced guy in 2012.
