Promising a specific jersey # regardless of current ownership is something that Kiffin is bound to do, and honestly there's nothing wrong with it if it helps land the kid. What's he really going to do if he shows up to Spring/Summer practice and doesn't get his promised number, transfer? Really?

I like our standing with Arnett, but honestly if we don't impress offensively to the point of overachievement, I think even with the sanctions he'll choose USC or stay close to home with Michigan State. I really hope I'm wrong but I just don't see landing an extremely highly rated receiver this year.

For what reason? Is it because we are already overflowing with talent at WR, or is it because you don't think we'll be able to get top WR's anymore due to the staff?

I think it's one of our deepest positions, and the staff at least faces an uphill battle. I think they are capable, but there are uncertainties to overcome by proving some semblance of excitement in the offense.

But mainly there isn't a lot of the top WR talent in the '11 class in our pipeline comfort zone. If we miss on Arnett it seems to me that Danny Woodson would be our best shot at a highly ranked receiver. But other than standard recruiting babble, there's not really anything concrete to believe he's not going to end up at Bama.

Yes, he named us his #2 and brought his mom down here.

They have come twice to Knoxville from Michigan on their own dime this summer for visit.

They have only visited 2 schools: UT and MSU.

That tells me all I need to know.

Me too. It's clear that he has some interest in staying instate and if he does MSU is the choice.

If he decided to leave home it will be UT. If mom gives her approval of UT then I think we should be in really great shape.

Is Gallon really that good?? I have mixed feelings about him -- so far, I have not been impressed and am not sure I want to use up a scholly on him.

Maybe he is waiting on his offical visit to go out to USC but I do agree with what you're saying though.

it's pretty awesome to see his interest in us is high, especially since we got some good WR's in the 2010 class.
