While Virginia spent most of the time navigating the campus in Knoxville, her son was meeting in-depth with the offensive coordinator Jim Chaney and more members of the staff in the Neyland-Thompson Sports Complex.
The two took the time to watch film and talk about how DeAnthony would be a pivotal part of the Vols recruiting efforts.
"We just talked about the offense, how he would get me the ball. He flat out told me, I'm the best receiver in my class. He said he hasn't seen anybody in my class that can fit their offense better. That really shocked me right there," the 6-foot, 170 pound wideout said.
The time spent with Chaney, along with receivers coach Charlie Baggett and head coach Derek Dooley led to Arnett feeling a certain level of Southern comfort as he left Knoxville.
"I could definitely say I am comfortable being down there after being down there a second time with the new staff," DeAnthony said. "I could definitely say I'm comfortable with being down there with the people, the environment, everything. I can definitely see myself playing there."
It's 'SC' at the moment, that's just how I'm feeling. It's still that, but don't get me wrong, Tennessee is right there. If there was another school with them it would be Tennessee," DeAnthony said. "But, I'm still undecided at the moment, but it's definitely a comfortable place to be at. I loved the whole trip, I liked everything about it. They're definitely high on my list, near the top."
