'11 JUCO DT Maurice Couch - UT Commit

Thank you. It was fun to reminisce. Senior year of HS and freshman year of college are years you wish you could relive one more time because they were the best.

My Dad graduated from North Florida.

Just being optimistic I guess...... :)

As much as it pains me to say it...Alabama's campus is fantastic. I loved everything about it when I got to go to the 3rd Saturday in October game last year.

FRAT HOUSES?!?!?!?!??!!? HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You think how nice the sorority and frat houses are has ANYTHING to do with where a football player wants to go to school? In the south for that where those social groups are notoriously racist?

Let me fill you in on what a typical college recruit means when he likes the campus:

1. Stadium- I would put Neyland up against any other stadium in the country. This is not arguable especially after the recent addition.
2. Practice and work out facilities- ditto
3. Housing- Gibbs in ok for Freshman year. Volunteer Hall where most of the football team lives after freshman year is extremely nice for free on campus housing.
4. Food- Gibbs dining hall is well above average.
5. Girls- they are hot ones everywhere and Tennessee is not excluded.

I have personally sampled all of the above for 4 and half years and have no concern when I hear a recruit say they are waiting to make a campus visit.

Frat houses....haha....you frat boys crack me up.

Their campus and main strip are really nice. It's everywhere else in Tuscaloosa that is completely filthy/ a great place to get stabbed.

Article on TOS has an interview with him. He says he was all TN, and wanted to committ so he did. Later this evening, his dad told him to wait until taking his visit since he hasn't even visited TN yet. He said he will take his visit in November then make his final choice shortly thereafter.

To me looks like this kid is pretty sure, just his dad wanting him to go through the process.

I can understand that. I would advice someone to see the place first. Come on home big guy!!! :compute:

I've been to a few campuses myself when i was looking at schools to attend. During this time i was pretty neutral. Granted I grew up in a Vol house. But I also grew up in Florida and pre Urban I did root for UF after UT. Obviously that changed when Urban came in and now I cant stand UF.

South Carolina- is terrible. Everything about that area sucks and there is nothing that sticks out in anyway. I hated that area

Florida- You can barely tell there is an SEC college there. Its just a little town with too much traffic and the campus has no clear boundaries. Personally I dont like UFs campus. If UF left you wouldnt be able to tell because there arent orange and blue stuff every where.
(comparing with other SEC schools)

Auburn is a beautiful area but there is nothing there! This may be because I was at Auburn for only a day but how do they get their groceries delivered to the local grocers? It takes miles of nothing to get there. Phenomenal campus with all the red bricks. Awesome

Athens- Great traditions, roads are too narrow...4 lane road between campus and downtown makes it a pain in the arse to leave after a game. Awesome facilities. Without UGA athens would turn into one of those town you pass by on state road 15. Bars are fun. No place to get chicken wings in the downtown area... that ticked me off lol

Tennessee- This is why I became a fan. I loved the campus. The stadium was magnificent and so was TBA. The feeling of an all orange nation was present. Everything was Vol, literally. Just like everything in Athens is UGA (with the bulldogs on the corners of the sidewalk.) I felt a huge amount of support for the college that I honestly didnt feel anywhere else. The campus blew me out of the water and I envisioned myself going there.

Baton Rouge- It was too brief to really get a good idea of the area. I do recall everything being LSU just like UT and UGA. I wasnt going to go to LSU however my friend i traveled with was looking at it as a 5th option. Ive heard great things about it from people who have seen it more in depth.

Got accepted to Vandy but didnt visit. too expensive for out of state anyways. I was banking on scholleys for the out of state colleges.

I ended up picking University of North Florida because the business program (Marketing and Logistics) was the better program in Florida. I get paid 8k a semester to go to college...smarter investment

So i disagree with UT having a bottom tier campus in the SEC.

Haha I was about to say, the Logistics program at UT is the best in the nation. But if you're getting paid to attend school, then by all means go there :good!:

but it is on the insider so i dont know.... they have us and south carolina as the two he is choosing from...anyone know our chances??

Well he chose UT after visiting SC and without visiting here. I would say that better facilities and the lack of chicken **** should make him recommit after his visit to Knoxville.

wait what? you said he chose us after visiting USCe and then

"I would say that better facilities and the lack of chicken **** should make him recommit after his visit to Knoxville"

He committed to UT then decommitted an hour later. He attended the USCe beatdown of Alabama, and his final two are USCe and UT. You should panic.

Yeah thats why i spent so much time visiting UT and really saw the campus in depth to a degree. Main reason I applied. I was just trying to get the tuition to come down to at least 2k a semester that i would pay but thats not how it worked out. I regret it to a degree but I think I made the smarter choice. UNF is nationally recognized as well so it was a good situation. Still a Vol though

I wouldn't be too concerned. His dad wanted him to slow down and make sure he makes the right choice. If he chose us after witnessing SCs finest moment ever I cant imagine his visit to Knoxville does anything but seal the deal.
