UT has a horrible campus also compared to the rest of the SEC.
I've been to a few campuses myself when i was looking at schools to attend. During this time i was pretty neutral. Granted I grew up in a Vol house. But I also grew up in Florida and pre Urban I did root for UF after UT. Obviously that changed when Urban came in and now I cant stand UF.
South Carolina- is terrible. Everything about that area sucks and there is nothing that sticks out in anyway. I hated that area
Florida- You can barely tell there is an SEC college there. Its just a little town with too much traffic and the campus has no clear boundaries. Personally I dont like UFs campus. If UF left you wouldnt be able to tell because there arent orange and blue stuff every where.
(comparing with other SEC schools)
Auburn is a beautiful area but there is nothing there! This may be because I was at Auburn for only a day but how do they get their groceries delivered to the local grocers? It takes miles of nothing to get there. Phenomenal campus with all the red bricks. Awesome
Athens- Great traditions, roads are too narrow...4 lane road between campus and downtown makes it a pain in the arse to leave after a game. Awesome facilities. Without UGA athens would turn into one of those town you pass by on state road 15. Bars are fun. No place to get chicken wings in the downtown area... that ticked me off lol
Tennessee- This is why I became a fan. I loved the campus. The stadium was magnificent and so was TBA. The feeling of an all orange nation was present. Everything was Vol, literally. Just like everything in Athens is UGA (with the bulldogs on the corners of the sidewalk.) I felt a huge amount of support for the college that I honestly didnt feel anywhere else. The campus blew me out of the water and I envisioned myself going there.
Baton Rouge- It was too brief to really get a good idea of the area. I do recall everything being LSU just like UT and UGA. I wasnt going to go to LSU however my friend i traveled with was looking at it as a 5th option. Ive heard great things about it from people who have seen it more in depth.
Got accepted to Vandy but didnt visit. too expensive for out of state anyways. I was banking on scholleys for the out of state colleges.
I ended up picking University of North Florida because the business program (Marketing and Logistics) was the better program in Florida. I get paid 8k a semester to go to college...smarter investment
So i disagree with UT having a bottom tier campus in the SEC.
