'11 JUCO DT Maurice Couch - UT Commit

Can't say that I blame his dad for wanting him to go on his visit before he commits. Just wanting him to be sure, he will be a Vol!

It is pretty nice to have had that commitment even though he hasn't made his visit to knoxville yet...

Article on TOS has an interview with him. He says he was all TN, and wanted to committ so he did. Later this evening, his dad told him to wait until taking his visit since he hasn't even visited TN yet. He said he will take his visit in November then make his final choice shortly thereafter.

To me looks like this kid is pretty sure, just his dad wanting him to go through the process.

Good idea, actually. I didn't realize he hasn't even visited yet.

It would be even worse to commit now, not like his visit, then leave us high & dry in November.

ya...just read that on TOS...waiting until Nov. to make his decision. USCjr and UT battle.

Committed to Vols after visiting SC and witnessing them pound the #1 team in the land, while we were getting dawged in Athens...his visit to Knoxville should only solidify his decision. I've visited Columbia a few times -- his decision is not surprising. As far as the campus goes, not even a top-five in the SEC if you ask me.

So I get home & I'm already having a great night because my rec bball team won the championship, I then get on VN to see Couch has commited & I go CRAZYY to then find out he did decommited :cray::cray:

He says he will visit for the Ole Miss game then make a decision. He will NOT visit Kansas or USC. Down to South Carolina & Tennessee.

"I'm down to South Carolina and Tennessee. I'm going to wait until I go visit Tennessee to make my decision."

When asked if he had indeed informed the media that he had committed to Tennessee, Couch said that it was true, but that he was no considering himself committed to the Vols yet.

"Yeah, but I'm not ready yet."

You're right about that. Bottom five is more like it.

I was really worried we wouldn't land a big time dt recruit at ut this year. I know he may have decommitted, but my confidence in Dooley finishing strong went up a notch. Just imagine how the coaches feel atm after having this kid commit then decommit.

Just show some people know, Rivals has Couch as commited & are counting him towards our ranking ( as of right now, they will take him off sometime tonight ). Adding him put us at 19th, & 7th in the SEC. Once Dallas commits tomorrow we could be really close to being in the top 15.

I understand other schools will get commitments but if we add Richardson, Clear, Wright, & get Couch recommited we could be pushing really really close to the top 10.

Hey Maurice.... look what we've put into the NFL. Then look at what USCjr has put into the NFL.

We've got the highest paid DT, QB, and Safety in the NFL.

UT >>>>>>>>>>> USCjr

Just because they won 1 game doesn't mean anything. It's still South Carolina. In 2 years we will be beating them down again.

I guess a positive is our coaches ability to sell UT over the phone. Hope he still sticks w us

Yeah, not saying it's a crap-hole...just wasn't very impressed. Columbia itself is a great little town, lots of fun. The campus just had a sterile, spread out feeling -- no energy or buzz, especially for a football weekend with the Dawgs in town.

Actually this is a great test for Dooley, to go head to head with Spurrier.....if CDD gets this guy after his visit, that sends a stronger message to other recruits about our staff. Will be interesting to see this play out.

South Carolina is finally having a decent season with Spurrier and everyone acts like the ole Spur Dog is back... the old Ball Coach is back... right. I bet they lose two more. Then they graduate half of their O and D lines and it all goes back to normal... for them. Except Lattimore and Jeffery keep them competitive. We'll see.

after he walks into our athletic department office / football office building ( where the trophy is ) he will be sold... damn its a very good recruiting tool
