'11 GA S Brian Randolph

I just researched the two depth charts, and wrote a huge post with the numbers according to rivals rankings but my window closed somehow. The bottom line is we have a younger and more talented core of safeties, so I would have to disagree with UT having the depth chart advantage.

Mario Edwards -SR. Started a lot of games last year
Jemea Thomas -SO. Played sparingly last year but is killing it this Spring.
Cooper Taylor -SO. Starter till he got hurt last year.
Jerrad Tarrant -JR. Moving over to S in the 3-4. Was a starter at CB.
Isaiah Johnson -FR. Enrolled at GT early and is killing it right now. Running with the 1's.

Redshirted
Lance Richardson

Signed in the 2010 class
Fred Holton
Isaiah Johnson
Jake Skole

I have to agree with GT09, I think we have a lot more potential for a safety signing in the 2011 class. Jackson may bounce after his junior year if he proves to be the stud he can be and stay out of trouble. Also, Loften was our only real safety signee and as already posted he may not even make it in.

Word is he recently got a qualifying score...so it's looking better and better for him...I think he'll be 2nd string by the 2nd or 3rd game if he gets in

All I am saying is that at GT right now there are a bunch of 2 and 3 star guys at safety, while I am not a believer in that stars mean everything it is a good indication of talent. While UT might not have as many bodies at safety currently there are some studs there. I just don't think it is going to be any easier to see the field in Knoxville as it is in Atlanta.

And Randolph is likely to be a 3* on Scout...you don't want him?

I agree our depth at safety should be a huge plus for us.

Myles and Janzen are solid but they have both been in trouble. Janzen could be 3 and done anyways. Waggner is alright I guess, but I don't think he is a starter in the SEC. We all love Wilks but he just isn't gonna get it done. Loften may not qualify and Sapp may be better suited as OLB.

We need safetys.

I honestly dunno what i was thinking.

LV, get your head in the game. If RW takes you out - which is pretty much a given after a comment like that - how are we going to get our info? You're too valuable to the rest of us to be making comments like that. It's like playin' with 4 fouls - you gotta be smarter than that!

Tennessee needs safeties desperately. It is one of the biggest needs in this class. At least 2 in this class that can come in and be ready to play and probably start as sophomores.

1. Loften is going to have issues getting through the clearinghouse.

2. Janzen is only going to be in Knoxville 2 more years.

3. Listing 4 guys, the majority who will be upperclassmen by the time Randolph would arrive on campus, goes totally against what you are trying to say, it means they absolutely need safeties in a big way. A need position doesn't arise only when a starter is a senior.

Agreed, we have to get two safeties in this class. Like I pointed out earlier, our four top safeties will be juniors next year.
