Alan Posey, who is from Clarke Central HS in Athens (Dooley and Chuck Smith's alma mater) was in town for junior day and has been offered a scholarship.

Does Clarke Central HS produce good talent every yr? If so that school could be on lock.

That's like saying UGA could lock up Knoxville Catholic. We might be able to get a few , but a majority are going to go to georgia, if georgia wants them. That being said I hope we can get this guy I like his size, and IQ.

The only difference is Dooley and Smith are both graduates of Clarke Central. UGA has nobody from Catholic.

Posey is going announce his decision on May 4th and plans on returning to Knoxville to take in a practice.

We are in good shape here.

Dude that was the worst comparison I've ever heard. That's not what I was saying at all. Dooley and Smith are "alum" of this school and b/c of that we are in better shape than most. Where did you get Knox Catholic and UGA out of this? Did Richt and Rodney Garner both play at Knox Cath? Thanks LV looks like somebody knew what I meant.

Doesn't really matter if dooley and smith are alum. Central is in downtown athens pretty much. if UGA or Ga Tech wants a player from there then 8 outta 10 times that player will go there.

Chuck Smith musta been one of the 2?

And uh oh, Billy Napier is his recruiter from Clemson.

In the past, I think this would be the case, but I really feel like Tennessee can make a big change in the recruiting landscape in Georgia right now.

Number one: Kiffin made a concerted effort, by his presence, helicopters, and billboards.

Number two: Dooley and Smith are from Georgia. I think the Vince Dooley factor is big.

Number three: I do not know that much about Ga. Tech recruiting, but I do not think UGA is going to be able to recruit on the same level as they have in the past. Things appear to be on a downward spiral for them.

Number four: I think we (UT) now realize that Memphis is seven hours drive time from UT (duh), and Atlanta is three hours away. In fact, most of Ga is closer than Memphis. It is a more natural recruiting base, so why not just acknowledge that fact, and take advantage of our momentum there?

GA Tech has to work their ass off in recruiting... It's a hard sell - very tough school academically and no chicks there amongst other diversity problems... They will never be able to consistently out-recruit UGA.

Dooley hits prep alma mater

AM ETTennessee Volunteers Top Email Though the announcement won't be made until May 4, Tennessee may already have its first recruit for the 2011 class. And it's one that is close to new coach Derek Dooley's heart.

Georgia OT Alan Posey says his top two schools are Clemson and Tennessee (hometown Georgia hasn't offered yet, but Posey says he wants to leave Athens), and he most likely will commit on the anniversary of his grandfather's death -- even if it costs him potential future offers.

Posey visited UT for junior day last month and is scheduled to be in Knoxville again on Tuesday for practice. Plus, the Vols have an insider's advantage. "Coach Dooley and coach Smith (Chuck Smith, the DE coach) are from Clarke Central so it would be pretty good to get three Gladiators up there," Posey said. "They told me they're building a championship foundation. They told me they'd love for me to be a part of it. I'd like to be a part of it."

Posey is also impressed that OL coach Harry Hiestand tutored Orlando Pace during this past season. "I like Coach Hiestand a lot," Posey said. "He likes big nasty, physical linemen. As soon as I got there on junior day, he was the first person to come up and talk to me. As soon as we started talking, we hit it off."

This is going to be tough for the Dooley-haters to swallow. What's he thinking going after these offensive linemen?
