'11 GA LB A.J. Johnson - UT Signee

USC has bigger fish to fry than Johnson imo. UGA will very much be a factor if they get their heads out of their collective arse.

He may, Johnson said, but there isn’t much of chance he’ll change his mind.

“It’s right,” he said. “It’s a school I’ve been wanting to go to. I wanted to commit while I was there this weekend but everybody told me to hold off. So today I just went ahead and did it.”

Hopefully he still feels this way, the school hasn't changed.

He is still pretty high on our boards. The LB position is one that we will probably take the most at this year for 2011. Every other position we will only take 1 or 2 or none at some. This will be the smallest class under Saban this coming year. It will be between 18-20. In the end I think if AJ Johnson wants to come to UA there will be a spot for him.

Here's A.J.'s early Top 6 from a CaneSport.com article....

He lists an early top six of Miami, Clemson, Florida, Alabama, USC and Georgia Tech.

I don't like he didn't list Tennessee, but I believe we are still a big factor, regardless of what the article says.

I agree Eric...I don't see UT with with at least a small chance...he committed to us last year before the Clampett's moved to Beverly Hills...GBO!

clemson, five others, hard after former vols pledge a.j. Johnson

outside linebacker a.j. Johnson (gainesville, ga.), who decommitted from tennessee following the coaching change, revealed six programs who are showing him the most attention, espn affiliate web site noleinsider.com reports.

"right now i would have to say that clemson, uf (florida), alabama, usc, georgia tech, and tennessee are recruiting me the hardest," he said. "that is also my top group of schools at this time, in no particular order. Clemson is the school that is recruiting me the hardest of all of them."

I don't think he's as good as LBs USC will be going after. The state of GA has at least 2 better LBs than him.

agree... imo C.J Johnson is better also... don't get me wrong tho, hope he signs with UT..

good to see we are back in the mix...

He won't be going to Bama.

What makes you so sure of that?

"To tell you the truth, if Alabama comes at me hard like they said they would last summer after camp, I will head down there real quick. I have my teammate there, and we will just keep it going and work hard together and push each other," said Johnson. "Blake [Blake Sims - 2010 commit] and I are real cool. He has only been at Gainesville a few years and we are like brothers. I am at his house all of the time and he is at mine. We are both captains on the basketball and football teams. We have been through a lot together and it would be real cool to keep it going."

“I really love the campus and the atmosphere at the University of Tennessee,” Johnson told InsideTennessee.com in an interview this week. “I really want to go back there and visit and get to know the new coaching staff.”

That's great news. Most important thing about AJ is he loves UT and not necessarily the coaches. Go Vols......

sounds like niles really liked his visit and plans on making an early commitment, would be great to have him in johnson's ear
