Never said he didn't play the game, but it's the way you're claiming he played it, as if you knew anything other than internet rumors, that I take exception to.

In all fairness though, there's some guys on here who did not buy what Gabe was saying.Really? No way! Seriously dude that's exactly what I've been saying the whole time. I myself was one of them. Go back to last fall and you'll see me giving JMoore and others a hard time for thinking we would sign GW.

This isn't about showing anybody up, just simply stating what I believe to be true. I have nothing to prove to anybody. Yet you claimed to have some inside info that no one here would accept.

We're talking about HS kids, not all info that comes out will always be accurate unfortunately. This happens to all teams and will continue to happen, no reason to get all excited about it.I've been following recruiting since probably before you were born, I know very well kids change their minds, play games, etc. Stop trying to make this about something it's not. You posted erroneous info that you claimed to be inside knowledge, and I called you out on it. Nothing more.

I like UGA Insider and don't want him to get run off this board, but UGA I would never bring up Gabe Wright here unless you really really really really want to be trolled

Even though he is a Mutt, UGA Insider is good people. He is objective and fair and harbors no bias in the information that he brings. We need more fans of other teams like him. Do not antagonize him and get him run off this board.

These two posts started all this. So basicly what UGA was saying is that:

1. UT never had a chance.
2. UT only got involved at the end, and just because GW wanted to add some excitement.
3. The Vol fans trying to correct him were just butthurt over GW picking AU.
4. That he had inside knowledge that GW never really considered UT, and tried to warn us.
5. That the reason Vol fans were hopeful was some public statements made by GW.
6. That Vol fans were too gullible to listen to him.

Reality:

1. To say the vols had no chance is sillier than saying he was a vol lock.
2. Vols were heavily involve early, and got a private commitment in September. He visited UT unofficially 3 times, on his own dime, with little fanfare.
3. Not very neighborly to act this way on a rival board.
4. I've yet to see evidence of this "info", and again refer to number 1.
5. GW never really made public statements of leaning to UT, only that he was considering them. He consistently leaned to AU publicly. The reason some fans were confident in our chances down the stretch was what he was doing and saying privately.
6. Vol fans were for the most part cautiously optimistic about our chances for reasons that had nothing to do with public statements. Everyone knew AU would be tough to beat and I can't believe anyone was surprised he went there.


We all know, and knew then, that GW liked playing the game, just as others do. But his involvement with UT coaches and players was not the circus side show UGA and others would have you believe.

Wow! You are trying to create an argument out of nothing.

Maybe I did not thoroughly explain what I meant in my original comment or maybe you took it out of context.

Let me explain with an example. Gabe comes to Athens, hangs out and talks to the coaches, no signs of any problems while he's in Athens. The very next day he goes and rips UGA, talking all kinds of junk about our staff. A few days later he gives an interview praising UGA and telling us fans that we have nothing to worry about in regards to his recruitment. Then you have the one talking about how his mom hates AU and how much she loves UT and Dooley. That's not any "inside" info, that's published info that you can easily find.

As far as committing to UT, I can't answer that. It would not surprise me that he would do something like that to be honest. I don't claim to be a UT insider, so I would not know if did or not commit.

That's the only other info that I've shared on here besides saying that my best guess was that he would be a Barner.

And yes, I do have a very good source in Columbus who was providing us UGA guys real good info on Crowell. Gabe was talked about but even he wasn't 100% sure on him. I never really cared about Gabe, I was just passing along info that I heard. You can do with that what you want.

It's nice to see what info or opinions other fanbases have. Otherwise, all you'd see was "vol lock" and "man, we really need this guy."

In an interview Gabe says something to the effect of "maybe you can say I'm not a man, but I couldn't call Coach Dooley and tell him I wasn't committing to UT."

That alone tells me it was a race to the end.
