Hey, Spineda......you still down, LOL???

And to think... DuesExMachina was willing to bet this as his sig that Gabe would be a Vol. Always fun to revisit some of these.

Forget his shannangans, I just don't respect a kid who wants to go to Auburn.

My last post in this thread.

Hubbs at the Memphis dinner tonight said that Gabe gave his commitment to the staff on the last in-home. Said he was committed to them the night before signing day(or the morning of), told Tiny that he would be a Vol about two hours before his announcement, then goes on the air and picks Auburn. That's low.

Who is to say he was ever a silent? Did Derek Dooley tell you that?

Look above.

Don't be so naive. He gave the staff his silent commitment and never told them otherwise. He had an embroidered hat made for Auburn! Obviously he knew where he was going because I don't think someone embroidered in the 2 hours before the announcement. He should have told our staff he was going to Auburn so we could move on.

Count, I know they are just kids but that doesn't mean that some can't actually be total jerks... There seems to be quite a bit of evidence of what GW did.. You have to admit if even half of it's true it's pretty irresponsible and classless, right?

It's no secret, I don't like the kid and I'm not willing to give him a free pass just because he's a kid... I don't care that he didn't come to UT (kind of glad he didn't actually). I do care that he put the staff in a position that limited their options recruiting wise..

He did this for what?

Any good reason other than to 'play the game' and have 'fun with his recruitment'?

At what point do you start calling these kids out for doing crap like this?

Is this kind of crap just becoming more and more acceptable?

How high are integrity and honesty on the average Joes list these days?

Count please don't take this as an attack on you. I'm really just posing some questions to you and I'm really interested in your opinion...

Anyhooo, I hope Gabe made his mama proud like he said he was going to do. I hope he grows up while at the barn but that seems unlikely with the mentoring he'll get from the likes of trooper taylor..

Yeah I'm sure he came to the decision a few hours before, decided on his witty little tag line, and went to get this done right before his announcement. I doubt the gears move that fast in Wright's head. :eek:lol:

I didn't say what he did or didn't do. It was merely a comment that it CAN be done. I'm sure most people could care less about Gabe or his hat at this point.

Agree with most all of you. Good by GW don't let the barn door hit you in the a$$. I hope he has fun riding the defensive bench at AU. I will be looking forward to playing AU when he is a Junior. He can then see how it feels to be thrown around by the best tackles in the SEC. Namely Tiny. GBO.

C'mon guys. Gabe Wright is a fine, Christian, young man from a great family. He got saved by Ray Drew on his UGA visit and gave witness to Rodney Garner and Durell Robinson. He has been studying with Trooper and Chizik. He is following his calling.

Uh, ok...sounds like it did him alot of good

I knew this would happen and I told you guys to be careful and not believe everything that he said. He was all about attention and playing the game. UT did come on very strong but he had built the relationships with AU long before UT got involved. UT offered early playing time and you almost got him due to that. Gabe's mom always wanted him at AU, location was always a factor because his mother has some health issues and I know his mom wanted him to stay close to home. I know it sucks to miss on a bigtime ballplayer but we have to respect their decisions.

I didn't see where Hubbs had confirmed he had committed to the staff. If that is the truth than my opinion changes completely. I have no problem with the guys having fun with the announcements. There have been many times these shenanigans have made us instantly love a player. I think honesty and integrity are extremely important, and if he really did play our staff like that then I hope Marcus Jackson runs him into the damn ground when we play them.

As far as the hat thing, for all we know, he also had a Tennessee one made up that said "Berry who" on the back. Anyways, I think Tennessee will be fine without him.

If he had signed with UT, you would be singing his praises and preparing his Outland Trophy campaign. Get over yourself.

Well..lookie here. Who woulda thunk it? s&m taking the side of somebody that took a dump on the Vols. Predictable as always trolljan.

I think SGM's position has always been a little strongly emphasized, but the guy called the kid trash based on his choice of university, regardless of whether he lied or not. It's just *never* worth that.

If any of us in our careers had a similar opportunity where we had acquaintances and friends from rival "companies" all telling us how great we were and how much we could help them, a lot of us would react similarly.
