Good point, but CDD and the Vols never offered...academics still in question. Interesting to see if he hangs on @ TT.

They offered, but when Gabe confirmed he was going to Tennesse, they told him sorry but there was no room. I firmly believe that if Gabe had been up front with the staff, Mackey signs with the Vols. Whether he qualifies is a different matter.

Whether he qualifies or not is besides the point. The point is, Gabe Wright is a lying good for nothing lowlife POS that cost us a shot at a really good defensive lineman. I normally don't wish for bad things to happen to players, but because of the slimy underhanded way this happened. It would not make me sad for his career to involve extreme disappointment. I know that is a bad thing to say, but some justice would be welcome in this case.

I am in complete agreement. If he wanted to go to Auburn, that's fine, it's his choice. But don't leave us out to dry.

Far and away, my most hated recruit. Ever.

EDIT: I'm not nearly as disappointed in how signing day went after reading that. Screw you GW.

The really bad thing for me is, I didn't really care that much if we got him or not. I have been pretty consistent in saying I think Allan Carson is going to be a beast and would rather have him than Wright. Especially since I watched him get pushed all over the field in the UA game. He is not any better than Saulsberry either. I know we need some more talent in the DT spot, but in my honest opinion it is going to be a while before he gets strong enough to handle SEC OL. So it really sucks that he cost us a chance at a more SEC ready player.

My opinion on this COMPLETE TOOL of a recruit has been stated a few times on here... In that opinion I added that he is EXACTLY where he belongs.. At the barn with his mentor and daddy trooper taylor... I can't think of a better match...

If that is the way Wright operates, then he is better off at Auburn. He has a lot of maturing to do before he makes it in college football.

So, if GW, in fact, committed to CDD on his OV then either CDD didn't believe him or he lied when he said that none of their commits waivered or jumped ship.

Dooley was talking about the guys who publically announced their verbal commitment to TN...those guys, not one, ever waivered.

I hope he enjoyed watching his university get spanked and manhandled by Tennessee last night. Something that will be very common when AU plays us in football. :)

No sour grapes here. Dooley reiterated at the presser that he was looking for kids of character, kids who wanted to be here and who would stick. Wright never seemed like that kind of kid.

Why didn't we write (no pun intended) him off after that "my heart's in Auburn" comment and see if we couldn't land a solid 3* in his place? If he announced for the Vols, we could have made room, instead of ending up one short and having to re-sign Loften after nobody was left on the board. Loften would be great, but after a year and a half, he's beyond longshot.

We missed on a recruit people, get over it! He said it came down to the wire, and I believe he really was torn on his decision. He didn't mean any disrespect towards our university and made the best decision for himself, whether we agree with it or not.

Negative. You don't commit to a team if you're undecided. If you're undecided you tell both teams you're undecided or you're giving your silent commit to one of the two teams. You absolutely don't tell both teams you're a silent commit because that messes with the recruiting class of the team you don't pick; and it shows a lack of character. Maybe you're just a little more tolerant of liars, but personally I can't stand them.

He made the best decision for himself, and I agree with it 100%. But do I think he ran over to the mall and had that Nick Who? cap made right before the ceremony? Not a chance.

Don't kid yourself. You don't have a "Nick Who" hat embroidered for your ceremony when you're on the fence. He knew where he was going for a while.

Piss on Gabe Wright. I have no problem with a recruit choosing another school but when you tell the staff and the players on a team that you are on board and you're not, you are a classless POS. Gabe will fill right in for Fairley in terms of character whether he fills in terms of talent remains to be seen. The hat deal pretty much shows what kind of kid he is. Hopefully the kid gets his head on straight when he gets to the Barn.

C'mon guys. Gabe Wright is a fine, Christian, young man from a great family. He got saved by Ray Drew on his UGA visit and gave witness to Rodney Garner and Durell Robinson. He has been studying with Trooper and Chizik. He is following his calling.
