He was the only one that kicked me in the man region as well. Thought we had him locked up, and unfortunately, I disregared the posters who said to watch USC. Thought location was his deciding factor, and I was wrong (so was Granny, too).

Happy with the class all the same.

I agree. Gabe was always kind of a flake, but I trusted what I was hearing and that plus his spurning Auburn to come watch a nothing Tennessee game had me convinced he was a Vol. I began to have serious doubts the last few days, but stuck with what I had seen. My bad. Mea Culpa. He had me fooled.

Given a choice, I would much rather have had Jernigan, but we just got in on him too late to be a factor -- not sure why we waited so long, but I am not sure it would have helped. FSU was on him from the 8th grade.

Dawson was the real shocker for me today -- I never saw that coming at all.

Dooley and the staff pulled in a very good class -- not great, but very good. It was much better than any of us had expected during and even after the season. We should all be very pleased with what the staff accomplished.

Probably best we didn't get GW. I hated the way he played the recruiting game. IMO it showed a lack of character. He'll probably get away with anything and everything down there, but up here, it wouldn't have surprised me to see him in legal trouble PDQ. Kids like this just aren't good for team chemistry.

Give me a break. It was a crap shoot. No one knew for certain until he walked in that room. Don't act like he told you the whole plan six months ago over scones and tea.

Not so sure he actually "played" us this entire time. Dude seemed sincere when he said he was confused up until today. I think he really went back and forth with it and we won't win them all.... and that's ok.

JMHO but sorry, I know they are kids but some are actually jerks despite their youth. I think GW is a tool and NOT because he didn't come to UT. I wanted Jernigan a WHOLE lot more because, for one, he's better than GW and the kid has CLASS...

TJ = class act
GW = complete tool

Gabe is exactly where he should be, at the barn with his daddy trooper...

Gabe played the game, sure, but at the end of the day, he wasn't ever sold on being a Vol. He had his mind made up for a while. He was just making sure. After the NC celebration and how they were closing their class, it just reassured his choice.

This one is not a surprise. We really needed one more DT in this class, so I hate to hear it. But, half of us have been calling the vol lock crowd over-confident for a few months. He may have told our staff he was coming, but the sum total of his actions seemed to suggest otherwise. We were the diversion. It just sucks that it was at a position of such need.

I will now take this moment to laugh at gatErhatereric.

Gabe was a 51/49 barn to me and I really wasn't surprised either way with his pick but I agree on Dawson that pick was the one that I was disappointed in the most. I am still very pleased with our class and we fell in right where I thought we would about the 10-12 range.

I was disappointed by Dawson, too. I thought we had him. I hated to hear Gabe's decision, but it was more expected.

By reading this board and seeing how confident you guys were I really thought Tennessee was going to steal one.

We both needed him but I'm glad he choose AU.

Side note- The way he handled his recruitment was dirty and childish but congrats on a great class VOLS. :toast:

I blame Maggitt, Moore, Clear and anybody else that signed in the two days prior to NSD. After we loaded up on so many in quick succession, it seemed like we could pick anyone.

Then back to reality.

I would hate to be Gabe when we play Auburn next. You know they will remember how this played out. I would if I was them.
