You go to school to become the best at your profession. Not the best in class. Harvard gets different professors but is still a top college. Let's not let logic get in the way of things. With those "graduate football players" comes a tool to help that kid become the best in his profession. Get it? I could go deeper but I trust that I don't need to.I don't get people who talk about programs that put players in the NFL? First of all, what does it matter what Marks did? I haven't researched it, but I am assuming Auburn has a different coaching staff in place since he left (his position coach)? On top of that, the NFL is the best of the best. Period. Not just on the field, but in the front office as well. They will find talent no matter where it is. Look at Chris Johnson with the Titans. East Carolina, but just has that naturally ability, and more importantly, work ethic.
I just think talk about programs that put players in the NFL is overrated at this point. With the amount of coach turnover at programs these days, it's really kind of irrelevant. And when people start talking about programs putting players in over a 2 decade span, it's just the most idiotic discussion ever. Coaching is a big part, but to be successful at that level you have to be supremely talented, and you have to have the work ethic it takes to get there.
About the only program related comment as far as players getting into the NFL I would make is that Texas seems to put guys in the NFL who almost never pan out to expectations. Is that the program's fault? Probably not. But the thing is they get guys who are so naturally gifted, athletically, that they are appealing to NFL front offices on what they could become. It's not necessarily a knock on Texas' coaching, but just more on the seemingly obvious conclusion that they don't put as strong a leash, or push guys as hard, as a program like one run by Nick Saban would.
I'm not saying Wright is a Vol for sure, but thinking he is 100% anywhere is foolish.

I'm so torn...jmoore says UT, LV says Barn. What am I supposed to do with THAT? :mega_shok:
Except football programs don't ALWAYS continue an excellence in coaching each year that exceeds other schools. I understand what you are saying, but that's like saying any Gator that came out when Zook was coach ended up being highly successful at the next level.
Not at all impressed w his Q&A on TOS. I no longer will be disappointed if he goes elsewhere. I don't think he has the right mindset to become a dominant d-linemen. I'd still take him if he wanted to come here in case he does and because we need bodies at DT but I certainly am not holding him in high regards as others seem to here at VN. He's been questioned as being overweight too, I've noticed. Seems to lack the drive. Thank goodness for Couch!

Not really trying to start anything but what film has everyone gushing over Couch? I know he's beef at a much needed spot and I hope he does well. But the plays I looked at were him blasting a line of Gooches. I hope he is the real deal for us though.

Our track record of NFL DTs is much much better than Auburns.
