Gabe Wright and Isaiah Crowell could be a package deal

"I think we gonna be a package deal. You will be getting two if you get either one of us probably," he said.
ESPN
Is Crowell even really considering us?

I looked at his stuff on rivals and has us listed and says he will be up in the spring or summer, so maybe? But we weren't in his top 4 that he listed.

The facebook watchers on BOL spotted Gabe Wright giving Dequan Menzie ('10 JUCO Bama commit and former Carver teammate of Crowell/Wright) a RTR! on facebook and Menzie responding "you already know what it is". TIFWIW, but I see at least Wright in Crimson next year, with a HUGE possibility that Crowell will follow suit.

Wright volunteered to cut his list live on camera and he named Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Clemson, Maryland, Oklahoma State, USC, Michigan, Tennessee, and Ole Miss when naming the schools still in the mix for him.

When asked about a leader, he said, “if there was a team to beat, it would be Auburn.”

Per Scout...

This kid changes every visit and on Rivals he has a top 7 plus they make it sound like Clemson might be the team to beat now. Whoever gets his verbal will sweat it out until NSD.

Also regarding the Scout article he says that Auburn is 1A and UA is 1B for whatever that is worth. His mom his high on the Barn right now, but she has not visited any other school yet other than the Barn.

With Alabama still in the lead for Crowell, and quite a number of kids on the roster from Columbus, I think Wright eventually ends up at Alabama. Not to mention his mother has yet to visit Tuscaloosa, or meet Coach Saban.

Funny things is Carver-Columbus has a nice pipeline to the Barn and Bama. Head coach is an Tiger alumn but they aso have four former players on the Tide roster.

You, Jort, have been misinformed. Despite Auburn's proximity to Columbus (it's only about 30 minutes), they have had a poor record with recruits there in recent years.

Think you have been misinformed, they haven't had many kids the last few years from CHS but they have signed more players from that area than any SEC school over the last 25 yrs. One of the reason they have had more lately is bc CHS had become the power house in Columbus again since Coach Flowers left Shaw High. Coach Mcgee doesn't close the door on other programs bc he is an Barn Alumn but he did ban UGA from Carver campus two years back and that door is still closed.

I follow Auburn's recruiting pretty closely, and like I said, they have struck out in the area recently when it seems they should have a huge advantage.

Maybe true but CHS has had some bad teams until the last 5 yrs so most of the talent in Columbus during that time was playing at Shaw High, who's HC at the time was sending most of his players to the leg humpers. Central in PC is another story they have placed more players to Bama than AU when its right in the Tigers back yard.

"Tennessee stands good," Wright said. "I met coach Dooley pretty much when he got in office. I want to get to know them, but I haven't had the time to get up there.

I am loving that.

Good to hear about Wright...It was also good to hear his comments about AU...I thought a while back he was a heavy Bama lean...

Even though we are not hearing a lot from DT's...I feel confident in Smith to deliver...

X had some additional info on Smith I found intriguing....he trained 9 of the DL that went in the first 5 rounds of the 2009 draft...plus all of his work with current NFL DL stars...how could he not be a huge sell to DL recruits?...

I think the recruiting of the lines this year will be critical for DD's tenure here. Some good depth along the lines will have us ready in a couple of years to compete.

+ 1,000,000

Dooley doesn't have to win this year to be a success at Tennessee (though it would help with the fans), but he needs to have us winning again by 2012 and especially 2013 - those will be the make or break years for whether he will be here long term. I like his chances of being at Tennessee long term if we have great OL and DT recruiting this year and are playing blue chip talent with a couple years of experience on the lines in his make-or-break seasons.
