hopefully it was to inform them that he's a VOL

It will take people a while to figure out he's not a player's coach.....in the mean time recruits will be lining up at the door to play for him.

his voice is heard every Monday on Pro football broadcasts and his whole ESPN Pre NFL Draft Film study sessions with the top Draft prospects pretty much kept his face and name out there.

that was a brilliant move on his part btw.

His main problem is evaluating talent, His drafts in Tampa bay were Horrendous

He has a short leash and a short fuse with players. And that was professional players. He will not have the patience for 18-22 year old kids. His status as an analyst and former Super Bowl coach will certainly help him recruit. But the thought that players will just flood to Miami because of him is not accurate. And the thought that Jackson's recruitment would be over is also not accurate at all.

Edward Aschoff of the Gainesville Sun says that Florida has targeted four-star DE Anthony Chickillo of Tampa (No. 82 in the ESPNU 150), a Miami commitment, to fill the void left by Jeoffrey Pagan's defection. On Sunday morning, coach Urban Meyer called Chickillo to let the prospect know that Meyer would be taking over his recruitment, which makes a big statement about how much the Gators want Chickillo.

Aschoff says that Florida also has a lot of interest in another Miami pledge, four-star OG Marcus Jackson of Miami (No. 87 in the ESPNU 150). A source told Aschoff that the already-wavering Jackson's interest in the Gators continues to grow.

thought some people might find this interesting, it is from ESPN who got it from a newspaper so TIFWIW

Lmao!!! Everybody better stop recruiting the kid it is over. What a damn joke. Every year meyer does this crap with 1 or 2 recruits like it is the "end all", The man makes me literally sick to my stomach, and I cannot wait to watch florida keep on struggling.

i think its good for the program...a much needed boost...he will bring a good staff with him im sure.

3 years and then back to the nfl..hopefully he will win at least 2 ACC titles..

thats if he comes

UF has always had Jackson on the board and never stopped recruiting him. Some believed that we would flip him after FNL but it didn't happen. When Prestwood came back on the board the staff focused on him more. Also, Meyer is taking over most of Dan Mac targets so that includes Pagan. Without a DL/south fla recruiter inplace Meyer is the logical choice.

Miami would be better off with Mullen. Gruden has the reputation of not being a player's coach. He's notorious for not liking to play younger guys, opting for veterans instead. I honestly just don't think he has the personality for the college game. He is far from being Pete Carroll, who had the perfect personality for recruits and college age kids. Like you mentioned, if Gruden comes, it will only be for a couple of years; then he will jump back to the league.

I don't think Gruden is going anywhere. He's pretty much got it made being on MNF. He is still involved with what he loves, but doesn't have all the added stress of being a coach. I agree with Griswold. He just doesn't seem right for the college game.

Rome said on his radio show today that it would be a great hire for Miami, however no way Gruden would go there. He can do better. I know it is kinda harsh, but makes a lot of sense.

he could do better...like tennessee?

I never thought he was coming to Tennessee, however Tennessee would rank higher than Miami. I think Rome meant if he were to coach at the college level it would be for a program who has been relevant in the past decade.
