11 FL OL Marcus Jackson (UT commit)

If Gruden is the coach that 3/4 of this board claims he is he would've never been fired by TB. In addition, there's been coaching changes in the NFL since he was let go and no one has come knocking down his door. He will stay on MNF because he has no other choice other than Miami. Pro sports constantly "recycle" coaches who have been fired and yet he hasn't been picked up yet, kinda tells me something.

So why hasn't Herm Edwards or Tony Dungy been getting phone calls like crazy? Cowboys need a coach, why haven't they been begging Bill Cowher?

I think Gruden is waiting for the job he wants. He has the leverage; its called a super bowl ring.

take em all!!!

Miami...

As I am sure you well understand, your recruiting is on hold until you name a new coach, and the eventual quality of this year's class will depend on whom you hire. My guess that it will be either Mullen or Malzahn. Malzahn is the sexier choice and would probably generate more enthusiasm among recruits, but he is an unknown quality as a HC. Mullen is the safer choice, I guess, and since he is very well known and respected in Florida (so is Malzahn) he should be able to recruit well there.

Whoever Miami chooses, they will start off with a lot of talent that just needs to be coached up, and unless they fumble the choice of a new coach, they will be competing with both Florida and FSU pretty quickly, IMO.

Good luck, and keep posting here. Good to have your input.

The difference is Dungy and Cowher retired, they have no desire to keep coaching. If they did they wouldn't have stepped down from two of the three best jobs in the league. Can't remember if Edwards called it quits on is own or not.

A Super Bowl ring with a team that was built up by Dungy isn't leverage. Considering Gruden returned to the playoffs like one time after the Super Bowl and Dungy had the Colts in there every year I think its clear who the better coach was. The Bucs were pitiful before Dungy and were pitiful without him, save one run by Gruden. Growing up in FL I saw my fair share of Bucs games and Martin Gramatica graduated from my HS so our town passionately followed TB.

Obvioulsy this is all just my opinion but I find it telling that a coach who obviously expresses his desire to coach again and has a ring at his disposal, hasn't managed to land any kind of coaching job yet. I guess GM's don't think as highly of Gruden has Volnation seems to.

what makes you and everyone else on here so sure he even wants to coach again? i assume hes like most on here in that he gets over 4mil to basically describe something that anyone with a pulse can see for them selves.
why would a person leave that?

Dooley & Hiestand are having an in home visit with Jackson tonight, let's see if Dooley can get a commitment or a visit.

marcus just told me he is a vol cuz he heard fulmer is coming back

OK miami, now I'm worried.. I say this cause I like you/we like you but you may be in need of medical attention... :)

I have no idea if he has the desire and could care less. I'm 100% glad he's not roaming our sidelines, that I know for sure. If I was him I wouldn't want to waste my time coaching again. He's "earned" more money than he would ever need and now he makes $4mil/year to basically work one day a week and spend all of his time with his family. I wouldn't give up $4 mill for $5 mil and put myself through the grind that coaching brings, just to say I'm coaching again.

Taking a OV to GT next weekend. story on rivals soon.

As GT09 said, Jackson will visit GT

"Coach Sewak came down to the school to talk to me," Jackson said. "He was very nice and we talked or a while and then I decided I am going to take an official visit to Georgia Tech next weekend."

"I have talked to what's left of the Miami staff and I am just waiting to hear from the new head coach and go from there. I am keeping all of my options open. I wasn't that surprised to see Coach Shannon fired since the expectations were so high this year and those expectations sealed his fate. I think the other recruits are in the same boat as me, waiting to see what happens next."

Don't get me wrong, I think this dude is a horse, and would be a star, but I won't be overly upset if we don't land him because (with the addition of Richardson) I think we have a solid O-Line class and we can use his spot for maybe 2 linebackers (Dawson and Paul) or anywhere else we're getting strong looks from others. I really like how we're standing with a bunch of really good recruits overall!

A good problem to have for certain.

Im glad he is visiting GT and not Georgia. GT won't be a threat IMO. I would be willing to bet Dooley encouraged him to take his visits.

Don't think so. But he's never visited campus so you cant say its going to be a Miami - UT battle with him not even setting foot on campus yet.

I can say what I want. :) I'm not dissin' GT, it is a great school. Just don't think they will get him. Sorry if disagreeing with you hurt your feelings.

Just curious how many times have you talked to him?

I haven't, but I follow folks on Rivals that talk to him. I put a lot more weight into what they say than you. No offense. Just don't follow you on Rivals.
