There's no confusion. Veterans day was called Armistice day in the US for a long time.
USAF! "Integrity First, Service Before Self, Excellence in All We Do!" Peace through Strength! Aim High! America's Air Force!
US Army! "This We'll Defend!" Be all that You can be! Army of one!
USMC! The few, the proud, Marines! "No better friend, no worse enemy!" "Semper Fidelis" (Always Faithful)!"
US Navy! It's not just a job, It's an Adventure! "Honor, Courage, Commitment!" Anchors Away!
and let's not forget:"Semper Paratus" (Always Ready)" US Coast Guard!
I Salute you, USAF Retired/USAF Civil Servant!
I know you aren't confused. Didn't mean to imply as much.
We lost our way, I guess, and forgot the original purpose of the day. Maybe people in the U. S. think one memorial day is enough per year. Or perhaps we didn't invest enough blood and treasure in that war to continue remembering what this day was originally about.
I can assure you every other country in the world still remembers what this day was originally about. Especially the English, who lost almost an entire generation of young men in the Great War.
I heard a story of a Marine's wife that wanted to get the Marine's motto, Semper Fidelis, tattoo'd on her inner-thigh while he was deployed to show her faithfulness.
Unfortunately, through a mis-communication with the tattoo artist, her inner-thigh was adorned with the Coast Guard's motto.
