These 4 Vols made the ultimate sacrifice to our country:

Rudy Klarer, Clyde Fuson, Willis Tucker and Bill Nowling hold a special place of honor in the Vol family and have had their numbers retired.

couldn't you photo shop Hamilton out of the pictures? I wonder how many in Neyland never knew why those 4 mens names are on the stadium?

Different war, OP. Armistice day, as it is known every where else in the world except here, is a commemoration for the dead from WWI.

This year marks the 100-year anniversary of the beginning of WWI.

There's no confusion. Veterans day was called Armistice day in the US for a long time.

That's durn right! We should all be reminded why the state is called the Volunteer state for its long history of sacrifice to the wars of this nation. I'm extremely proud that it's not just some silly nickname like most schools have.

I know you aren't confused. Didn't mean to imply as much.

We lost our way, I guess, and forgot the original purpose of the day. Maybe people in the U. S. think one memorial day is enough per year. Or perhaps we didn't invest enough blood and treasure in that war to continue remembering what this day was originally about.

I can assure you every other country in the world still remembers what this day was originally about. Especially the English, who lost almost an entire generation of young men in the Great War.

I want to say THANK YOU to all the ladies and men that have served from the time we were fighting to become our own nation right on up to today!!!

All gave some and some gave all because Freedom has never been free, it's earned every single day and always will be.

The dedication and commitment of every service member and their entire families should always be respected and appreciated by all of us!

Whenever I see a man or ladie in uniform I always take a minute to walk over, shake their hand and say "THANK YOU for your service and dedication to our great naton" and I wish everyone else would too.

God bless America!!!

Semper Fi!!!

I heard a story of a Marine's wife that wanted to get the Marine's motto, Semper Fidelis, tattoo'd on her inner-thigh while he was deployed to show her faithfulness.

Unfortunately, through a mis-communication with the tattoo artist, her inner-thigh was adorned with the Coast Guard's motto.

A good buddy of mine out here in a different unit at Fort Bliss killed himself two weeks ago. I don't agree with suicide, but at the same time who am I to judge? He was a great leader, who served on multiple combat tours with the 101st! He was from Memphis and a huge Vol fan. He would often tell me how upset he was that he wasn't stationed in Tennessee anymore, and that he couldn't go to Neyland on the weekends. God bless him and his family! Happy Veteran's Day to all of us serving, and all who have served and supported!

Memorial Day honors the fallen. Veteran's Day honors those who made it back. It's a nation's way of saying thanks to those who are still alive. Reverence for all generations of veterans should be paid. Not all nations remember those who didn't fall.

She must of had a "hair trigger, curly one at that! ... and fully operational 247 landing strip too!"
