10 year show cause/NCAA, Tyndall discussion (merged)

Really hate to bring this thread back to life, but with Blackburn more than likely our next ad, I was wondering, what is his stance on Bruce? I understand it's highly unlikely Bruce is ever back, but I was wondering as to if there's any friendship, or connection there.

More likely than Tyndall coming back.

In 17 years at Texas, Barnes recruited 31 top 100 bb players. Tony Basilio said yesterday that Barnes has now been at UT for 513 days, or almost 1 and 1/2 years, and has not recruited his first top 100 player. Even if he gets one of the players who are now considering us, he will still be without a consensus top 100 player going into his 3rd year in 2017. Isaiah Stokes is ranked 60th by espn, but is not ranked in the top 100 anywhere else.

When it comes to postseason tournaments, Barnes teams have only been shutout 3 times in his career...the 3rd was last season. However, in his waning tenure at Texas, his team did go to the CBI by paying their own way and lost to Houston in the first round. Additionally, only once in all of his teams postseason tournaments did they receive an automatic bid.

Back to recruiting here at Tennessee, Basilio says that next year's squad will be filled by players that Desmond Oliver was actually recruiting to UNC-Charlotte; players that mostly made their resumes playing in private school leagues.

Is there anything in this post that is untrue or fabricated? If so, please point out those mistakes. I realize that the imbeciles will be more than willing to attack me rather than the facts.

Am I disappointed with Basketball recruiting so far? YES!!!!! Did I expect us to recruit higher rated players than we have signed? yes But it is so soon to give up on the Barnes tenure. The only school he recruited great in was texas. He did not recruit superstars at his other stops! At Texas he was known as a coach who had great talent but under achieved. At his other stops he was known as a fiery coach who developed players to play better than their talent. I believe he is returning to his roots.

It is easier to recruit at texas! Why because there are lots of players in the state and no basketball powers any where near them. Kansas is almost 700 miles away. No other team in their conference is known as a basketball power house.

Lets give him 3 years on the job and judge him by the wins and loses in year 3.

False, 247 has Stokes ranked #87 national.

The only guys who fit that description are Fulkerson and possibly Williams, who else was being recruited to UNC-C please list them, should be easy as our "roster is filled with them".

Where #87?
As per discussion Uyaelunmo dropped from about 106 to 133 in the last couple of days. I'm guessing a result of the Scout demotions?

I'm still holding out for a Polley/Stokes/Uyaelunmo career(@UT) saving class IMHO.

Apologies, Stokes is actually #78 nationally by 247.

Basilio left out the parts about "why would a top 100 recruit want to attend UT?" while it is still in the ICU after the previous coach left it there after getting caught lying and cheating.

Barnes needs to exceed expectations on the court in 2016-17 in order to elevate the recruiting.

Yup, did have the #1 class, not sure if he still does or not, gotta be close though. I'm interested to see if he starts to get the results this year in year 3, only averaging 13 wins a year through 2 seasons.

Mass chaos so far. Starting to land talent like he had here.
Things could change.

He landed talent in his first 2 classes also, but like we saw with some of the guys he had here he's had guys kicked off the team, academic issues, ineligible players, guys transferring...not a ton of stability or wins yet, we'll see what year 3 holds.

By Thunder's theory those early guys were 'late pickins', so likely immature thug impersonators, criminals and punks.

This class are early picks so more likely high character guys.

I get that right this time Thunder?

If he doesn't make the postseason this year then something is definitely wrong.
