Just read on Scout where Grayson went to the Louisville camp before visiting UT. He said that the Louisville coaches liked what they saw and the coaches said to expect an offer soon. He must be pretty good for louisville to be offering. They have had some good QB's over the past several years. This kid wants to be a Vol and said it would be an honor to play where his favorite NFL player played his college ball. I like his attitude.:clapping:
I agree...you can tweak the mechanics, and the S&C coach can work with him to build him arm strength if they need to, but you can't really coach accuracy...and you can't coach 4.6 speed. Of all the prospects we've looked at (HS), he has the best potential to hurt teams with his feet.It depends on what offers I get, but probably not, Grayson said. I definitely want to wait and see what Tennessee does.
He is willing to wait for us OMG this kid is awesome. And did you guys read the part about how his dad would want him to play in the south. Now compare that to our Scroggins situation.
I just wish the coaches would put him ahead of Brunetti and move on. Scroggins is clearly the best guy and they should pursue him until signing day but this kid would calm a lot of fans down about the Qb situation right now. I think he is better then Brunetti but who knows I am not an expert.
Hey, everyone!
Well I have been ready all the Volnation stuff on Garrett. It's great to hear you guys talk about him. Let me give you some hard core facts.
Garrett: 6'2", 195lbs, 40: 4.63, shuttle: 4.13. so year 2,897 passing. jr. year 3,119 yards passing.
I have a lot of info on Garrett. I went to everyone of his games last year. I am a huge football fan and I study the game. I have watched highschool, college, and nfl games all over the place. So I am here to give some insight.
I coach in the same league that Garrett plays in.
We've got some "reconnaissance" film on him that I will try to upload

Garrett is great family man. He is a hard worker and very dedicated to his sports. Garrett without a doubt will lead any team. About bringing in more kids. I think he would help. WR's and OLs just need to pay attention to the current recruiting trail, because Garrett is on fire. He is finally getting the respect he deserves. He also has some blood line. His uncle was drafted by the steelers as a line backer. Played a few years that headed up north to play in canada.

If he did indeed get a tour from Coach O, he did meet one of the "shot-callers."Reread my post. I told you he didn't meet with the coaching staff, right? I was correct there. I did say that he LOVED the school, stadium, and everything else. But if I'm a recruit...guess what I want? TO MEET THE GUYS THAT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH RECRUITING! He felt snubbed in that regard. Because he didn't meet any shot-callers, he felt that the trip was not as productive as he wished. Doesn't mean he didn't love the university, the program, conference, etc etc etc. Read please.

Coach O is the Assistant HC and Recruiting Coordinator on a team full of former Recruiting Coordinators. That "Assistant HC" isn't just a fancy title either. Coach O has SEC HC'ing experience...and between him and Monte, it's nearly a HC'ing by committee right now, until this program is completely wheels up. I think that was a VERY smart decision by CLK. He doesn't have a lot of HC'ing experience, and Coach O, along with Monte is helping him a great deal to overcome some of the challenges first time (1st time College HC, in this case) HC's encounter, and to help build a solid foundation to operate from.
Having said that, I do think it's a bit raw for CLK to delegate someone in his place when dealing with recruits...especially at the most critical position on the field, as well as need for this program. Although it was VERY short notice (1 day, I believe), still...if this staff asks the kid to stop by and visit, they should honor that request, by having the HC MAKE TIME to see him, if he's on campus.
Maybe Coach O asked Garrett to stop by and CLK really didn't know about it until the last minute, but I'm still disappointed too, if he didn't find at least 5-10 minutes.
It wouldn't be the 1st mistake CLK has made, IMHO...and it won't be his last.
He's done this before at USC, so it can't be rookie coaching coming into play. They may have had this kind of attitude at USC, and some of that is carrying over.
I wonder if someone (Rivals, Scout, Basillo, etc.) can ask CLK about this without mentioning Grayson by name, but just ask why the staff would have the nerve to tell a kid to stop by and visit, and when he does, the HC can't even take 5 minutes to meet the guy?
I know Hamilton doesn't need to try an micro-manage CLK, but I doubt he would be happy hearing a report like this. He meets with the coach regularly to talk about the status/progress/direction of the team...if Kiffin did indeed snub the kid, I'd like Hamilton to step up and let him know this isn't how Tennessee is going to operate.
I have talked to Garrett multiple times. He started football in the 3rd grade. Started going to camps in the 6th grade. This year alone he as been to San Antonio for the army combine. Then he just did the 2 day Nike Camp straight into the elite 11 camp in Oregon where he was awarded the MVP. From there he went to Boise state, then week at team camp, then straight to Washington state camp, University of washington camp, then to Vegas for the elite 11 camp where he got the Golden Gun award (Rettig was there) He had the highest Sparq score (I think it was at the nike camp)

Guys it is pretty obvious what happened. A coach called looking for Grayson. He was in Louisville. Since they could not reach him they said he should stop by. Kiffin was already on vacation. It is just bad circumstance. Sorry for the rant watchers by one of are more passionate members.
I'm almost certain that Coach O wasn't the coach who met with Garrett. I would have recognized that name instantly.
