'10 SC DE Brandon Willis

Yes, but you're backtracking on what it seemed like you said, and wanted to say. So, maybe I didn't get what you said?

Not backtracking at all. Gave a few summaries for clarity to the challenged.

Here they all are and the point in bold is a continuation of all the statements.

If I moved around every time something bad or crazy happened..................

He is a minor head case. Has been through-out his recruitment and nothing has changed. He has been a soft verbal to every school and a full season later he is still a soft verbal to everywhere. Make a commitment and see it through. He is still acting like he is in HS. Grow up BW; be a man; make a commitment and work hard in class and on the field but most of all just make a damn decision and stick to it.

You must be joking. I don't need to know anything about his life. You act like you do. We all have "stuff" in our lives. I watched as my brother had to bury my nephew on Monday and was back to work on Tuesday of this week. If I had BWs kind of commitment to my employers; at some point they would stop hiring me. Thats the real world. BW is possibly going on three "employers" in one year.

Yes and was listed as a soft verbal.

May be the most stupid conclusion that I have ever read anywhere.

Now, think a little deeper. Do you really believe that BW is being treated like ****? He is the one dishing-out the turds. I wouldn't want him in a proverbial foxhole with me. May be Axis one day and Allied the next.

The point that you missed is that we all have things in our lives, but we move on, fight through, and stay committed to things.

Its really sad that I had to spell this out for you.

BTW Did you have the "WINNING" motto there before Sheen was going nuts in his interviews or after?

Very funny none the less as it relates to current events.

It's an admirable quality to be able to blindly judge someone you've never met.

I'm guessing you would be talking about me so; It's an admirable quality to be able to blindly judge someone you've never met.

BTW I don't have to know the guy personally to understand a character trait. I'm sure he is a good kid but he has a character flaw. At some point you have to make a decision and stick to it; I hope this will be the one for the kid. If I was a coach I would have to question what kind of dedication he would bring. Is he going to work hard and be Brook Berringer, playing with a collapsed lung, or will he be a guy that takes himself out of a game to pout much like Vince Young. I know he will get his chance to be better. Good luck to him.

Did you get what I said originally?

You implied Brandon Willis, still a teenager, doesn't need to get any more chances from "employers". You then spelled "perceptive" incorrectly in the same sentence where you attempted to use "genius" sarcastically.

For real. All you need to know about a kid to judge his character is whether or not he's changed his mind.

Can we go ahead and kick those two character-flawed wide receivers, Justin Hunter and Da'Rick Rogers, off the team? Don't want their indecisive attitudes ruining our team. They'll probably be taking themselves out of games next season.

Trying to equate Hunter and Rogers decisions to Willis's ability to change schools like underwear in a little over a year isn't even in the remotely close the same situation. Both Rogers and Hunter have both played college football, on the other hand, Willis has played college russian roulette. It's not even close to the same thing.

But comparing college selection to funerals and vacation time is a perfect analogy. Clearly I was dead serious in wanting both those guys off the team.

I must have missed the funerals and vacation time analogy in this thread. I do know you weren't serious, but the way you put it, I had to cover my bases.

Gosh. You're totally right. Willfully sacrificing a couple of years of eligibility in the sport that represents his best chance of making a great living in order to be closer to family members in peril sure doesn't show a commitment to anything. Clearly this guy is some selfish jerk that only cares about his loved ones.

He hasn't. and apparently won't. That why I included the LA Times quote.

How many electives is he away from being a "major" head case? And if you carried the credentials required to make such an assessment, what little faith which I remain to hold for higher education would evaporate.

What if the commitment is in error - doesn't a correction often appear to be a reversal of previous actions? So wouldn't "seeing it through" actually only worsen the situation, instead of improving it? Perhaps you should just simply say, "Do what I want you to do." and leave it at that.

I didn't realize that you knew him in high school, but you obviously did, or how else did you form such an opinion as to how he was, back then. Were you guys close?

Is your admonishing him to "work hard in school and on the field" your way of oferimg encouragement, sage counsel, or both?

I'm not trying to be heartless, but the kid can't make up his mind. I'm sure that he's feeling the pressure of family to come back home, but he's flip flopped a bunch so far, and who knows if he will actually work out at UNC. Truly feel bad for him, but he's really not given either school their fair shot so far. Hopefully he finds some stability.

Things That Won't Alleviate The Pressure:

Uninvolved bystanders providing their unsolicited advice on a message board as to one of the biggest and most important decisions in a young man's life.

Would you appreciate such scrutiny being heaped on you? Thousands of deleted posts suggest not.

If you're going to talk it, walk it.

Short of an out-of-body experience, how on earth couldn't you possibly hope to know this?

The entirety of your post is based on equal parts clairvoyance and projection.

If your story is true.....you have far more immediate and obvious things in life which likely deserve immensely more of your attention than where some kid plays college football.

I'm not sure where you were going in the first sentences - in one breath nullifying the need to know the young man, and in the next, insinuating some requirement that the criticizing poster produce the exact same. Could you elaborate on that, as I want to make certain to understand the point you are attempting to make.

What is the noticeable difference between the relationship between you and your employer, and BW to his school? Surely, you didn't fail to discern that, right?

I'm loving the admonishment to "think deeper" - but wonder if you are the best capable to guide us in that direction.

When I think of "sad things" in this thread, KPT's conclusion isn't one of them. Its not even in the Top 100.

Anyone care to take a stab at the Top 3 saddest things I've read in this thread?
