I haven't looked at the mock draft boards...they said it during the Pitt vs UNC bowl game...so it could have been misinformation...D tackles usually go quick in draft so if he is 9th it would prob put him in late 2nd to 3rd rd but he has the physical attributes to move up in workouts and combine.

No doubt he has a lot of ability, but I just think for a player that was ranked in the top 10 in a class that the third round is further back than he should be. Granted being drafted any where in the NFL is a huge compliment, but imo I think Austin would be a first round lock if he was at an SEC power. May be wrong though!

Many are saying Willis is leaning UNC because of the hostess situation...I think it is something else...

His father said it was going to be either UM or UT after the miami visit...then one of the first things said from Willis after the visit was "they have a lot of DL men"...

Now it is UNC?

It almost sounds like he doesn't want to deal with competition in his college choice...

UNC brought in 1 DT and 1 DE last year and currently do not have a single DL for this years class...

I hope he stays but something isn't right...

+1...Depth could be an issue, and UNC def. has us beat on early playing time. He wouldnt have to work as hard to get a starting spot at UNC.

UNC has 3 projected to be drafted at DT this year. They have some openings, but I think we are too similar there. I still have a feeling that the NCAA thing might not be all that was reported. The father said he didn't know if they were dating but they talked alot. I think (purely speculation) he is avoiding the situation. At 18, lots of kids don't always think with a big picture mindset. He may just want to not have this or C. Miller's shadow to stand in.

Wow... Did not know they were that thin at d line at UNC... Not looking good for the Vols now. I need to ask a Florida fan if it feels better if you say "We didn't want him anyways..."

We don't have the most depth in the world...but we have a soph semi-starter returning at DT (who he will never beat out) and Kiffin and Co. are very high on Walls...

We are bringing in 4 DT's not counting Willis and 2 top 100 DE's... thats more comp. than he will see at UNC...

.went to UNC BECAUSE he coveted hoops over "pigskin" - Despite being the #1 Fball player coming out of HS(over rated at that) he was a basketball first "get to the NBA" KINDA guy ....UNC not only offered him a chance to "play" bball, but actively recruited him to be in the mix for their starting pg position.......In short...YES, hoops led Curry to UNC - that 's legit - BW to UNC is a mistake by he & his family IMO.

Just a random theory but could all of this feigned interest in other schools just be window dressing for the NCAA? And Willis ultimately end up at UT?

Sounds like UNC now from all I'm hearing but his father did say it would be either UT or Miami then that visit didn't work out.

Would suck to lose him and I think UT is the much superior school but UNC has a great Dline coach.

I've heard the same from many, many people (although lots of people still say that AI was the best QB of the three) but I never saw them live playing football. However, I saw Curry play bball more than a few times. I'm not quite sure he ever knew he had teammates or even the rules of the game, for that matter, but it didn't really matter. As long as the refs didn't bother him with those pesky traveling and carrying calls he could do pretty much anything he wanted on offense.

I'm at a loss for words....UNC? I still think we can keep him, but if he goes public it will be very tough.
