'10 SC DE Brandon Willis

I think the depth thing is scaring him the most. He seems to me like someone who is going to try too hard and do too much and screw up. I see bust written all over him. He may have the physical tools there but the mental side doesn't seem too fit. I know people want to play early but to obsess over it is a little much. My guess is wherever he picks and he doesn't get to start right away, he will try to transfer. I really wanted him to come here a few weeks ago, but after all the recent things have came out, I hope he goes to UNC. I want players who want to play for UT and not worry about playing time to be here.

His comment about The U having "too many DL" pretty much cements the fact that he doesnt want to go somewhere that already has a lot of talent at his position. That is understandable I guess.....but I want guys who THRIVE on competition and constantly want to prove their the best.....not guys who shy away from it and look for the "easy" way out.

He has. Miller's facebook a couple of days ago said he was going to a party at Willis' house. And when Miller was on the radio last week, he said he talked to Willis earlier that day...

If you have to take one, Miller is the one you want imo...

And I think the depth chart is what is hurting us. For some reason he seems to be scared of competition...

Yeah but they were together all the time.... BFF.

If it's gotten to the point where we're saying "See they still talk!!" that only proves what I've heard. I know they communicate, but it's just seemingly not the same as when they were always together hanging out earlier this year. Not to say that being friends w/ Miller is the only reason he'd come here, but it was a big reason... so if that isn't as big of a factor now, it hurts our cause at least slightly.

I'm still holding out hope and I think we're still in it, but clearly it's not a solid commitment.

Willis moved with his Father to Florida didnt he? That would be a pretty big reason why they dont hang out together much anymore.

That would be pretty dumb.

Not really if you understand the mindset. He's demanding respect and support in competition with basketball for resources. He hasn't brought the results that it takes to have that credibility but needs the support if he has any chance of getting those results.

In reality, Davis has underperformed. He's gotten good talent to UNC and hasn't really moved the program forward all that much. The best they've finished in conference is 4-4 and 3rd place in the Coastal Div. They've now lost the Meineke Car Care Bowl two straight years to Big East teams.

What he's done so far does not suggest he's anywhere close to winning a championship... especially with GT playing well, Miami coming back, and VT continuing to play well. UNC will have a difficult time passing those schools to win the Coastal.

Yeah he must want to play DE if he is scared of depth because it is just Walls, Hughes, Nelson returning. Copeland and Smith coming in and Smith could eventually be an OL if DT doesn't fit him.

So he either wants to play DE which isn't smart or Davis and Blake are feeding him a crock of crap about our DT depth that does not exist...knowing Davis he is probably telling him it is dangerous in Knox like he did Miami..I can't stand Davis when it comes to recruiting because he is the dirtiest in the game.

You forgot about Jeffries. He redshirted this year. And John Brown is still coming here if he gets the grades. The 3 techniques spot is where Willis would play. The competition is Walls and Copeland. Brown, Hughes, Smith all play in Williams spot this year. Walls is pretty good and Copeland is said to be good too. Brown or Hughes might be able to play either spot. That is not mega depth but it is not like you can just walk in and get time. Willis is likely a redshirt here or at UNC looking at there depth. It should be just a matter of what coaches he wants to learn from and does he want to play with his friends.

And if Brown does make it in one of Walls and Hughes is not starting. Brown is very good.

Stupid comment. You don't know that. If Hughes gives 100% every play he has the talent to start.

Bubba our history goes way back for those who remember. I am sorry you hold grudges and did not even read what I wrote. All I will say is just like I told you we would hire Kiffin and you insisted we should hire Kelly. You even insisted Kiffin was an idiot you called me tons of names it is cool. Again you were proven wrong and just like it has happenned many times in your life it will happen again.

I didn't mention Jeffrey or Brown since they are up in the air...Jeffrey has been rumored to move to OL/Guard and Brown hasn't signed yet for whatever reason despite Juco signing day being open

I agree Brown will be a good one but there is not a set rotation that Willis should be afraid of....Walls and Hughes are favorites but no guareentee they will be the starters and that Willis couldn't beat one of them out. we rotate alot so it be shocking if he wasn't in the rotation

I believe that the JuCo signing period that you're referencing is only for those that are EE's. Fall enrollee's will sign on National Signing Day just like the high school kids.

If all are healthy we rotate about 4 to 5 guys. You need a 6th for injuries. Brown has not signed because he is not a spring admit. He has to take some classes and pass them to get in. I do not have any inside info so do not know if he is likely to pass them or not. But he has said he is all Vol as recent as two weeks ago. But if he is there Brown, Hughes, Walls and Copeland in my mind would play over Willis no doubt. Copeland is by far more physically ready then Willis. I am not saying Willis will not be better in long run. Nelson and Jeffries or Smith will likely be the 5-6 guys. If Brown is not admitted Willis may get minimal playing time. Otherwise, I would say he is pretty sure bet RS.

At DE it is what Walker, Martin, Williams, Bohanon, Miller, Smith next year. Did I miss anyone?

Man, Hughes will be a beast next year, he played really well when he got in this year. Bohanon actually did really good this year too i saw him get a couple of good plays in. And Chris Walker, with another year with this staff in the spring/summer will be phenomenal next year as should Corey Miller because this kid has loads of talent, and work ethic.

I never insisted Kiffin was an idiot so you are wrong there. I did call you out because i thought some of your posts were just plain dumb. I do not hold grudges. I did not insist we hire Kelly i thought he was a good coach and hoped we hired him. So you are the one making false accusations. To say that Brown will start when he has not even played a down of D1 football is idiotic. I know you would like to be like Vader, Montrellhardy, Sab, and those guys who seem to be more in the know about what's going on but....you're not. Sorry.

Bubba...I have no idea what you are talking about as far as what I want to be. You got darn right nasty back when we were hiring a coach. You would have been suspended from site if rules today were applied. You are not telling the truth now. And I think LV or Sab would say I have no desire to be like them lol. I do not know what they are even like on here. I think they are cool and all but I never put them in a special place in my heart like you obviously have. Mancrush? You called out Kiffin's character by the way. You said many things in degradation of Kiffin. You are again not telling the truth.

Kiffin said himself that Marlon Walls has the ability to leave after his Jr. Year...that's a pretty brash statement, like many he has had...Brown will fit into the rotation nicely...

this is from Thursday's UA practice,

Status unchanged

Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes defensive end Corey Miller and teammate Brandon Willis were both once Florida State commits. Then, the two Rivals100 prospects switched their pledges to Tennessee. Even then, there has been much talk of Miller still looking around. However, he confirmed on Thursday that he plans to stick with the Vols.

Do they have Miller and Willis confused?
Isnt it Willis who is Looking around?

Supposedly Miller looked around for 2.5 seconds about 3 weeks ago and then re-confrimed his comittment. If they are referring to still looking around, then I would think they have them confused.

If he wants to start as a true freshman on the D-Line, it will not happen at UT. He would be behind Hughes and Walls at DT, and would be behind Martin, Walker and his boy Miller (at least) at DE.

Has he stated he wants to start as a freshman? I'd be willing to bet it won't happen at UNC either. The depth is still not there.

yea i think they got them confused.... there was a article on gvx the other day and miller himself said he would be here to enroll jan 10th
