What does the article of Scout talk about? Does he mention UT etc? Say what you want about him, but right now, he's our best bet to challenge for a starting job next season. He's played in the SEC, leading Blinn College to the playoffs (10-1) and avenged only loss to Navarro last week. Has 22 TD's/4INT's, 2,486 yds passing, and completed 61% of his passes. I think he's more thancapable on the field, and has more than likely learned from his off the field issues. It's worth the risk. Just one fans opinion.
So let's assume the Tennessee staff has indeed decided to take a pass on Cam Newton. Either they have communicated that to Newton, or they have stopped the flood of phone calls and love letters. Either way, Newton has gotten the message. So why would Newton still list UT as one of three favorites? Holding out hope that Kiffin will change his mind?
I don't think so.
Newton has viable options on the table in Miss St and Kansas St. Both programs are now off of life support this year. Tennessee would provide a better platform to showcase his talent with a better supporting cast. As an EE, Cam would be moving on already to KSU/MSU if there was no interest from UT.
There must be some interest from UT remaining, even if it is tenous. Otherwise, UT would let him save face and let Cam say he dropped UT from consideration and was down to KSU and MSU.
No Blinn game this weekend. Maybe a surprise visitor in store for the Vandy game?
We only have a few weeks to offer and it isn't likely he's guaranteed to jump at an offer from us over one from MSU since that offense is set up just for him.
