Well, this settles it. We are after this guy. Through 3 games he is 48-76 (63%) for 538 yards, 7 TDs, and 1 INT. He says UT will definitely get an official visit from him...

1) This is all going to depend on if the staff thinks Bray can come in here & start from day 1, if they think he cant then i think they bring Newton in. Newton wants to be the #1 guy once he steps on campus, & i dont blame him he will only have what a year or 2 of elgibility? Why go somewhere & be the 2nd string QB once again & not get a good look at going Pro when he could go somewhere else & be the man from day 1.

2) Just because Newton has the ability to run doesnt make him unfit for the Pro-Style offense, idk much about his Juco's offense but i do know in High School & @ Florida he mostly took snaps from the Shotgun. The staff will have to be able to determine if he can learn how to run a offense from under center.

3) IMO Newton would be a GREAT fit for us next year, our OL will be giving up alot of sacks to the QB & were going to need a guy big enough to be able to take those hits for a full season. Also since Newton does have running ability he will be able to scramble & make plays with his feet running or passing. Newton has a CANNON arm & has pretty good accuracy, he will come in here & do everything he possibly can to learn this offense. From reading the above quote sounds like the kid knows how to study film & read defenses. Think about it, thats what were missing with Crompton. IMO if we had Newton on the field for UCLA & Florida we could possibly be 3-0. Newton has also been through the SEC, he isnt going to be intimidated by the huge crowds the noise or anything else like a true Freshmen would be.

I hope we don't offer him. Anyone remember him trucking Rogan in the swamp? There was a bit of extracurricular celebration afterwards. No thanks! I'd rather build a freshman than take this guy. Once a gator, always a gator.... Don't forget his off the field issues. That's all we need, Bammers saying.... "UT let's rapists and thief’s play for them...."

are you referring to the credit card theft situation? i dont think cam had a part in that

Juco stats are basically worthless.

Kevin Craft, Nick Lamaison, Brent Schaeffer, ..etc

Who was the last good juco QB even?

The guy at Nebraska is solid. Josh Heupel won a national championship. Colt Brennan set every NCAA record that's ever been. Guys from JUCO can succeed...

Brennan didn't go Juco did he? I thought he went straight to Hawaii after getting kicked off.

Lee is kinda different since he only played his freshman year there and has been in the system for 3 years now.

Heupel was good.

In general though, QB is probably the worst position to get from Juco though.

Cam is not a typical JUCO, so a don't think precedent applies.

Follow your coach's example - Who cares what Bammer's will think?

Cam Newton is not a classic dual threat QB.

I am SO HAPPY to finally find out there is serious interest from our staff. I can't even begin to express the difference in watching Cam play vs. (having to)watch Ocho Stinko.

If you ask me really nicely, I might go scout Blinn College again and give you another eyewitness report. Maybe even try to suck up to the man...
