1) This is all going to depend on if the staff thinks Bray can come in here & start from day 1, if they think he cant then i think they bring Newton in. Newton wants to be the #1 guy once he steps on campus, & i dont blame him he will only have what a year or 2 of elgibility? Why go somewhere & be the 2nd string QB once again & not get a good look at going Pro when he could go somewhere else & be the man from day 1.
2) Just because Newton has the ability to run doesnt make him unfit for the Pro-Style offense, idk much about his Juco's offense but i do know in High School & @ Florida he mostly took snaps from the Shotgun. The staff will have to be able to determine if he can learn how to run a offense from under center.
3) IMO Newton would be a GREAT fit for us next year, our OL will be giving up alot of sacks to the QB & were going to need a guy big enough to be able to take those hits for a full season. Also since Newton does have running ability he will be able to scramble & make plays with his feet running or passing. Newton has a CANNON arm & has pretty good accuracy, he will come in here & do everything he possibly can to learn this offense. From reading the above quote sounds like the kid knows how to study film & read defenses. Think about it, thats what were missing with Crompton. IMO if we had Newton on the field for UCLA & Florida we could possibly be 3-0. Newton has also been through the SEC, he isnt going to be intimidated by the huge crowds the noise or anything else like a true Freshmen would be.
