'10 IL WR Kyle Prater

New article up on him wanting to be listed as a 'soft verbal' in the Rivals database. Doesn't list us. Nonetheless, I did find this to be an interesting tidbit.

Interesting. I'd like to see the article if you can get the link my good man. :salute:

"I've talk to the USC coaches about this and they want me to be totally comfortable with my decision. I'm going to sit down once the (Proviso) East game is over with on Saturday and sort all of the visits out. I called and talked to the coaches at Illinois and Oklahoma and I told them that I was still interested in making official visits and they are excited to have me look at each school one more time."
He doesn't mention us and says that he's looking to take only 3 visits. Sounds like that would be Illinois, Oklahoma, and USC to me.

Well poop. Thanks for linking up the article.

And oh well I guess. I am satisfied with incoming wide receivers. Would have been amazing to have him but Tennessee will manage.

suprising to see us fall to 4th or lower on his list after he and his father raved about the visit here....thought i saw somewhere on a Bray thread that Bray told coaches that Prater wants to still make an official visit here

sounds like he either wants to stay close to home or go big at USC

To me that just doesn't make sense. He was high on UT after his visit and now no mention of UT for a visit. I know this may be a stretch but I wonder if USC asked him not visit UT.

Maybe it's because they run virtually the same offense and if he is going to play in a pro style offense, he knows he is going to USC. The other schools he listed don't use a pro style offense. That's the only thing I could think of.

May also have to do with the WR we already have verbals from....and that we are in front for Cobbs. I cant think of ANY reason he would even consider a team like Illinois unless he is getting cold feet about all the 5* stud WR's USC has on the roster already, and set to come in in their '10 class.

No way he ends up at Illinois. That program is a sinking ship with Mike Locksley gone.

His father preferred Tennessee. He preferred USC.

My guess is he just wants to slow things down and take a few visits. I'd bet right now he still ends up at USC. If not, I highly doubt it will be Illinois.

Illinois and Oklahoma...

Yeesh! Maybe he is attracted to programs that got brutalized week 1. In that case I am glad he is not coming here!

I truly believe that our class of Ambles, Milton, Meline (who I think will move) could end up with Cobbs and/or Stills and that it would be seen as comparable to the USC class.

The difference between Ambles and Prater is not too large IMO and Ambles may well end up being a better WR.

Don't count the Vols out for Prater. If we get a visit from Cooper and he decides UT is better for him. I think Prater may end up a vol. It is still fairly early. He has until December to decide. He changes his mind alot. Fulton is here already. His dad is close to Prater's dad from what I have heard. Don't throw in the towel yet.

With what we have now and committed personally I could really care less what he does at this point. If he does switch great, but its going to get crowded and if Cobbs jumps on even more so. I just dont think hes that high on UT, most kids if their parents are leaning one way they go with them. He obviously is not on the same page his dad is or its a nasty rumor that his dad is Pro UT. Either way hes talking about visits and again leaves UT out.

How can you not care? You do not have a player committed at any position that has Prater's talent. I would be stoked if UF could get a visit, but that will never happen. Cobbs is good but he's not in Prater's league.

Dont get your hopes up about Prater. Now a visit could change it, but as of now I dont see us having much of a chance.

Make me a soft verbal in the database," Prater said. "I'm still committed to USC, but I definitely want to take a few visits and I want to make totally sure of my decision 100 percent before signing day. I really feel like I still need to see a few schools in person, including USC, before I close the door on my college choice."
The Inside Scoop: Prater having second thoughts about USC?
