'10 IL WR Kyle Prater

Back to Prater, I think Tennessee can surpass a couple schools after his visit. They just need to stay close now, they don't have to be first. He has a long way to go with his decision.

Agree with this 100%...

jphil, I think you are off on all these Illinois kids...

Im just not a homer like you are. Open your eyes, he has stated that Illinois and Oklahoma lead, and they have been his leader from day one. What does Tennessee have that appealing to him, that these other two dont? The kid is comfortable with these two schools, and USC is third and USC does as good of a recruiting job as anyone in the nation.. and yes that means better then UT. You really think UT is going to pass up USC, which is ahead of UT and he hasnt even visited USC yet? Come on now. We dont have a QB, the QB's this year we are looking at dont look like vol leans whatsoever.

Im just being real here, your being a homer. Everyone in the nation doesnt want to go to UT, or put UT on a higher pedestal, theres other schools. I only comment on the Illinois kids really because I know and have seen these kids play, and know the news following these kids.

We play in the SEC.

He could likely come in and start from day 1.

Most people seem to think we're on top for Scroggins, and/or could land Brunetti.

Open my eyes? HAHAHA!!! I said UT was in 4th at best. I dont really know how that's being a homer. If you don't think the staff has a shot at landing him, you have not been paying attenion the last 6 months...

Oklahoma has been his leader since he watched their Spring game...

USC is the top recruiting school in the nation, hands down. But not every kid ends up playing at USC... Manti Teo?

 Brunetti isn't a Vol lean? HAHA, alot of people think we lead for Scroggins as well. One of them will be at UT...

Actually, you are being a homer. An Illinois homer. You say that UT has no chance with Milton or Prater. What a joke. Just because you live in Illinois, it doesn't mean you have any idea where these guys are going...

You are probably right. We got him from a JUCO in Cali, the same way we got just about every one of those others listed...

• Prater has narrowed his list to 10 schools. While USC, Illinois and Oklahoma are expected to make his final cut, keep an eye on Tennessee. Prater expects to visit Knoxville sometime in June or July and is being recruited by Ed Orgeron. Tennessee was one of the most recent schools to offer Prater and certainly has piqued his interest.

If we pick up Scroggins in early to mid July like I think we will, the ripple effect will be huge. We're already in the top five of three of the top four WR recruits in the nation, without a QB and top offensive linemen. With Scroggins, i'd expect us to get some nice WR (Ambles, Milton) and OL recruits over the summer since there are a lot of guys that plan to announce "before their season starts".

So you know think we will get Scroggins? In another thread you said we wont.

I said that before Montana commited to Washington. Before that, i would have predicted him to go to Washington, and he even said he almost commited there in late March, but the Montana commit changes everything IMO. Now that Washington is all but out of the equation, i'd say we are the front runners and he eventually ends up here. Our only competition is Florida, and USC if they offer. If USC offer, it'd get very interesting but if it's between Florida and Tennessee, UT definitely has the advantage because of the family he has here. As for USC, he lives 20 minutes away from there so it would be a dog fight. I still would think he ends up here though because he's smart enough to know that he could go and sit on the bench for 3 or 4 years at USC or he could probably start from day 1 here.

I'm getting ahead of myself, but we could potentially land 3 quality guys from IL: Prater, Milton, and Fulton.

Don't forget Praters teammate. I can't remember his name right now but he's a pretty good safety prospect. He's a soft verbal to Illinois right now but still interested in Tennessee.

They arent teammates, Corey Cooper is the guy too. One goes to Proviso West, One goes to Proviso East. But they are best friends and they talk about going to the same college. Cooper doesnt have all the offers Prater does, but he still has a very impressive list and a couple of schools they have in common. BTW, Oklahoma or USC are not recruiting Cooper, which is good news.

Cooper. He's a safety and has stated that he will visit Tennessee.

I think we have pulled back the reigns big time on Milton. Rob said something about it on VQ. IMO, there are at least 10-15 WRs who are higher on UT's board than Milton, maybe more...

• Sources say Hillside (Ill.) Proviso West wide receiver Kyle Prater currently favors Oklahoma over Illinois. But Prater is far from making a decision and just narrowed his list to 10 schools. The Sooners made a good impression on Prater's visit in April.

From Mike Farrell...

When Zach Fulton and his family return to Knoxville on June 27th, they will not be alone. The Fulton's will be traveling to UT with KYLE PRATER AND HIS DAD!!! The Fulton's and Prater's have developed a pretty good friendship...
