'10 IL WR Kyle Prater

When did he cut Alabama, lV?

I don't think we ever were really in it. He has never visited even though he said he was going to for an unofficial in August. Doubt that will happen though. Never really seen him that interested in us. Like I said before I hope you guys get Prater because I believe we will get Cobbs then.

Two other things to also consider, if Prater is really considering UT than Cobbs might go ahead and commit to you guys afraid of not getting the interest down the road if other spots start to fill up. With Prater on board the priorty might start to shift to other positions like the OL, TE, etc. Also Prater has USC in the lead but yet that is the one school in his final four that he hasn't seen yet. I think he goes out there on an unofficial next week so that could really make them a solid leader or maybe bump them out.

Hah! you people who think an Alabama team could beat a USC team are ridiculous.. This is why i hate the BCS.. they lose one game, and are considered non championship caliber. They had, in my opinion, one of the best defenses that college football has seen in a while. When was the last time all FOUR of a teams linebackers got drafted in the first 4 rounds, and 2 D-Lineman go, and a safety goes. If Taylor Mays would have gone he would have been a top 10 pick. We need a playoff system. USC would have won it last year. USC's defense was way better than Oklahoma, and their offense was just as good. UF has won its last 2 championships because they play the easy team (mind you, OKlahoma good team... but not USC caliber).

Lord Vader, A direct quote from Prater in Hubbs' article said that he WAS going to be visiting for the UCLA game, and also said that Bama was in it as well as who you said were his top 4.

"Yeah, they did impress me. I'm coming back down there for an official visit in September," Prater confirmed. "I'm going to be there for the UCLA game on Sept. 12. I'm looking forward to it."

The 'everyone else' in addition to Tennessee consists of Alabama, Illinois and Oklahoma according to the recent cut to five schools that Prater released last week.

I'm not trying to be an ass.. I'm just throwing it out there. Maybe he did cut Bama, but if he did, then I still haven't seen it.

That last quote does not list USC.

here was his quote on scout...

“Yeah probably USC,” Prater admitted. “USC, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Illinois is my top four right now, it could change some. Notre Dame is right in there also. Tennessee definitely helped its case with my visit yesterday.”

and on his visit...

“I thought about making it up to the UCLA game for my official visit, but I’m not going to be able to make it that weekend,” Prater said. “I will probably come up the next home game after UCLA.”

James Bryant talked to him this morning, the VQ guys talked to him last night.

They did something right, to get that much production in college, and then to suck badly in the NFL.

I think, personally, it highlights the disparity between the PAC-10 and the SEC. If they had to play UGA, UF, BAMA, and LSU each year those same players would look very average, IMHO.

Those USC offenses destroyed some good Auburn defenses. The 2006 Arkansas defense was pretty solid, too.

I do not think UGA or Ole Miss last year could have handled the defense of USC and would have been beaten soundly by USC. Our defense was good but not that good with their speed. The only reason UGA scored gainst us is because they starting passing and our pass rush was awful last year, hence UF and USC losses. Oklahoma last year good offense only because the defenses in the Big 12 are soft. I think overall UF-USC would have been a better game to watch, because UF-OU was boring for the most part

Two of them tested positive for steroids if I remember correctly.

How is USC's offense just as good? Oklahoma had a heisman quarterback and their offense broke the record for points scored in a season. I think Florida would have beatin USC by more than they beat Oklahoma. I don't think USC's offense would have done anything and I believe Florida's defense would have forced Sanchez to make more mistakes than Bradford.

Prater is a Stud, and i would love to land him.. however... how amazing is it already? 2 years from now.. we will have Nuke, Teague, Ambles, Milton, Rodgers, Maples (think he can still compete), and other recruits we can get. that is a loaded WR core.

Pac 10 has soft defenses also though. I just think if Oregon State, Arizona and Cal can beat USC/almost beat USC.... Georgia and Ole Miss would have a chance. Georgia was easily better than all three of those teams last year. If they were to play multiple times I am sure USC would beat Georgia and Ole Miss more times but I still think Georgia and Ole Miss could have pulled the upset against them last year. To say they couldn't is kind of ignorant after seeing Stanford beat USC, Utah beat Alabama, Boise State beat Oklahoma etc.

Maples is gone.

Okay, lets dissect this. Heisman QB means nothing. Nevertheless, bradford is an incredible player may even be top QB this year (or McCoy). But how can you argue that Matt Sanchez wasn't comparable? Not only that... USC has a better O-Line, WR core, RB and had a better O Coordinate. Oklahoma broke records, great, offensive records in college football dont have much weight to them. Texas Tech, Hawaii, they all have had record breaking seasons, with record breaking players... but it didn't make them the "best" offense or team. You also never addressed USC's D? that was the main point. USC's defense was the difference, Taylor Mays would have broke Harvey in half.

It is funny someone was concerned with Ambles who had a 3.5 GPA and ACT score of 18, that is better than Prater's. Prater says he wants to major in sports broadcasting and reports a 3.3 core GPA and a 16 ACT. Still well enough to qualify.

Bradford would have went ahead of Sanchez in this years draft had he entered early. I also don't know where you're getting that USC's wide receivers and running backs were better.

#3 Alabama 263.5ypg
#3 Tennessee 263.5ypg

So Oklahoma's offense was way better than USC's and Florida had no problem with the #3 and #4 defenses in the country. I'm sure they would have done okay against USC's defense. Forgot to mention that Mays wasn't going to touch Harvin unless it was on a wide receiver screen or lining up in the back field. I doubt Florida would have sent Harvin over the middle against USC's defense and it would be hard for Mays to lay Harvin out on a straight route.

Did anyone get to see Prater while he was on campus. Just curious about his frame. From Scout it says he Benches 295, but only squats 315. He might be able to catch the ball but for that size IF you can get at him might not be hard to take down. Just curious because he will still be an impact player but that is why Jones was so good last year as a freshman because the yards after the catch even when hit were good. He was very hard to tackle.

He looked hard to bring down in his videos. That's also high school kids though. He still has his senior season to put on some more muscle and then he plans to enroll early so he'll get a lot of working out done at whatever school he chooses.

Wow must have took you some time... you forgot CJ Gable.. but regardless Oklahoma has more stats, i understand that, otherwise USC would have broke all they records... However the competition in Oklahoma conference is not defensively strong.
