May as well play now because the spring is just as bad as the fall. The best case scenario is we just make the decision now to move College Football to the Spring rather than neuter the season and then inevitably cancel it halfway through because a few people got COVID-19 on a half dozen or more teams.
That’s the absolute last case scenario.
Because there are a ton challenges that go along with playing a full slate in the Spring. The first being is that we don’t know where this virus will be in the Winter/Spring sports season. Another is playing 2 football seasons in such a short period of time will take a huge toll on the players physically, mentally, and from an academic standpoint. Not to mention there will be a ton of draft eligible guys who I’m sure will sit out and prepare for the NFL draft rather than risk getting hurt . There is also a tv part to it that I’m sure complicates things That’s why I think it’s the last case scenario. Why? I can tell you right now that with the way things are trending at BEST we'll play an 8-game conference schedule with limited fan attendance this fall if things do not get progressively worse. I figure if things are delayed till the Spring there is a much higher probability of playing a full slate of games with regular fan attendance.
So it’ll be.... ‘Live from Knoxville, TN, in front of 20,000 rich alumni, and family of players, we bring you the 2020 college football season opener between Tennessee and Florida!’
No thanks, hard pass.
If the kungflu is going to kill all of these healthy, young student athletes when they interact on the field......how is 10 games better than 12 games?
