:stop:Guys is this the WR we really wanted? I mean iv never herd of this guy talked about much until last night and today. The guy we wanted on this forum was Cobbs. Now that Meline is a vol we talk that he is a great pick up. When for the past two weeks all that we wanted was cobbs and definitely not this guy. In sure hes gonna be great though. Cobbs has 84 pages of us talking about him and Meline has 10 or 11 depending on which thread you look at.

Meline is listed as a WR but the truth is he's just an extremely talented athlete...

Whether he'll play WR or DB we'll be determined once he gets here...I think maybe some of that will rely on whether we get Cobbs or not

I would imagine Meline gets first shot at WR because of depth in the secondary but wouldn't be shocked to see him on the defensive side of the ball. I don't think you're going to see Teague moved to defense either. I just think IF all these WR or WR-style athletes make it to NSD and through admissions, you're going to see it means guys like Todd Campbell won't be around much longer. Even next year, you're going to see guys like Denarius Moore and Brandon Warren pushed for PT in this whole Kiffin loves freshman era.

Meline was considered a National Top 100 Elite prospect by everyone before his season ending injury as a junior. He had offers prior to his junior year from Georgia, Alabama, among others.

His injury set him back a little bit in the rankings and his grade questions did as well.

Doesn't change the fact that he is an elite athlete with great size. I mean this kid is from South Florida. For years people on here have been begging for Tennessee to finally get some of those elite So Florida athletes and now that they are people are complaining...? I dont get it.

Meline and Jones are absolutely huge pickups for the program. They are well worth the risk. No question about it. If they qualify you have two athlete superior to 99.9% of all other college athletes.

Great addition for the Vols.

It's been reported on several websites Tennessee is recruiting Meline as an athlete. So, I'll doubt he'll be at WR.

Correct. He was recruited as an "athlete". They'll get him on campus and then figure out where he goes.

If I had to "guess" at this point I'd say WR, but Cornerback wouldn't surprise me one bit. Not many corners out here with his size and speed combo.

Part of the reason why we've been talking about cobbs so much is b/c he named UT his leader and everyone was waiting for him to commit. At least speaking for myself, Meline's commit seemed to have come out of no where. I did see one article about him but did not read it so i could be wrong

He is in the ESPNU Top 150, Rivals Top 100. Of course we want him. He's recovering from an injury that may have hurt his recruiting stock last year, but YES. We definitely want this one. No Doubt.

i would be interested to see both cobbs and stills reaction to this. i believe we will figure out where meline will play when he gets here, and i don't think this will hurt our chances with cobbs or stills. i'm sure we still get cobbs and not stills, which is what we expected before. i still want to hear their reactions, though.

next commits need to be cobbs, riley, and a big time OL. leifheit, stone, robinson... i think we have some work to do with those guys before we see a committment, though.

Meline at WR. Move Teague back on defense.

You are out of your damn mind

Why all the comments on Cobbs being out of the picture? He is more highly rated than any of the WRs that are currently commited. It's not who commits first, but who earns their spot on the field. Cobbs can commit and still be playing more next year than any of the WRs currently coming. Especially with the talk of Meline playing safety.

Cobbs is not rated higher than Ambles.

Question, was his 40 before or after he got hurt? Not that it really matters, his game speed is crazy he runs HARD for someone with that speed.

ha tennessee has the number one wide out class now. haha. I still think USC's is better but still. haha just that fact is awesome.

Not to be a jerk but the safety thing is old news. What is the deal with this guy? Did we choose him over Cobbs? Did Riley back off UT? Etc. There has to be something behind this commit.

No. No. He has HUGE upside and potential, but he is extremely raw. He is a guy I would expect to redshirt and wait a year or 2 before he could make an impact. UT took a flier on him and is going to give him a shot. His 40 time and leaping abilities are some of the best you can find in this class. Once he gains weight and builds some strength and toughness, he could be hard to stop...

He was an ace recruiter and excellent coach long before he joined forces with Monte or O. He doesn't need a gimmick sales pitch but thanks for playing.

I know he was an ace recruiter prior to joining the Vol staff. Thats why he was hired! Any great recruiter would not fail to point out the incredible coaches the recruit would be playing for. I also pointed out why he doesn't earn as much as Coach O and Monte and I was right!
Checkmate !:rock::rock::rock::rock::rock::rock::rock::rock::rock::rock::rock::rock: :)

When Meline committed, Hubbs said you could actually hear the screams and celebration from the staff in the after practice meeting...
