'10 FL WR Chris Dunkley

UF, thus far, has struck out on receivers.
UF is now recruiting a guy that they didn't want.
UT is waiting on several recruits, BUT is not re-recruiting the guy that they didn't want.
To re-recruit a guy that you told "thanks, but no thanks" to just over a month ago is an acknowledgement that recruiting at that position is not going as well as you would like.

It wasn't that "we" didn't want Louis but a few things made us hold off on his commit mainly Dunkley. Louis is and has always been high on the board but the history of Dunk and Louis made us delay the commit (IMO) but JL is still interested in UF from what I've read. Trust me when I say that Kiffin and staff still has the offer on the table for TJ and if Green and James don't pan out soon Kiffin will make that call again. Everything in recruiting comes full circle.

Dunkley has visited Georgia and will visit Alabama in early November, but Tennessee is the team to watch here; he'll be in Knoxville this weekend. Lane Kiffin has patched things up with the coaches at Pahokee, and Vols running back coach Eddie Gran is one of the best recruiters in the country, so if anyone is going to swing Dunkley away from Florida, it could be the Vols. This weekend's visit will go a long way in determining where Dunkley lands.

Funny thing Clearwater is that I was asking a question to B2BG but since you chimed in; yes it would be a recruiting blunder just like UT not taking a commit from TJ Leifheit or Stone for the hopes of getting commits from J James and Chaz Green or V. Hampton for the hopes of Dixon,Wright, Bryant and Dorsey. ALL programs want and wait to see if they are in play for higher ranked recruits on their board its a gamble but if/when it works out its well worth it imo. :search:

Have to agree with everything you said in that post. All schools end up making a "blunder" or 2 every year holding out on a higher ranked recruit they don't get and lose the other guy in the process. It's just a part of the recruiting game and not a negative on any coach or anything. Happens at every school, every year.

Dunkley is and always was higher than Cobbs on our board..no question....he is probably one of the highest rated overall on Tn board....him and Nukeese on the same field is a defensive coaches nightmare

You sound like the Gator fans who are so frequently mocked in this recruiting forum.

how is that? y would a Fla fan want to see Dunkley and Nukeese together? if you know football then you would easily see Dunkley is on another level than cobbs and has always been a top 5 Offensive priority for Kiffin....if he wasn't that high a priority he would be a FLA lock but he isn't any longer which is incredible because he was about 3 months ago

Typical Florida fans hypo:

- Player being pursued by Gators commits to another team
- Gator fans say, "Oh well, so-and-so was higher on our board. We are probably just making room."

FACT: Not all high school players want to play for Lane Kiffin at the University of Tennessee.

If they choose to attend another university, it's not always because a coaching staff has "cooled" on them or is moving to a player higher on their board.

If you have any more questions, don't hesitate...

cobbs said he lost touch with the staff i think that usually means cooled on someone....even if cobbs was committed Dunkley has always been higher on our board....go to bed fulmer

First of all, I'm a huge supporter of Lane Kiffin & Co.
I know they will have success in recruiting as well as on the field.

Secondly, please present your evidence that Cobbs explicitly said he "lost touch with the staff."

ive heard on several occasions that he wanted to commit to USC but the trojans backed off when they saw him in person. I have seen him on video he just looks really unnatural and awkward at the wide reciever position

:swoon3:

He never tried to commit to USC...He is all Gator and has been all Gator since FNL. Just like his boy Jon Bostic who give us a silent and had fun with the process...Like Bostic he will announce his intentions to play for UF at an all star game and enroll early. You can get your hopes up if you want to, and listen to the guesses, but dont be disappointed with Dunk picks up a Gator hat in January.

I just couldn't take that ish that Back2BackGator is assuming when he has horrible info and just makes assumptions based on that horrible info.

You obviously don't know football if you think Dunk looks unnatural and awkward playing WR...

He was a silent commit to USC, 100% sure. He's been committed to 3 different teams in the past 3 months...

I have heard this about Cobbs too...But not about Dunk. :eek:k:

What is the view of Vols concerning wins and losses in recruiting. Trash talk is cheap but it seems to me that most of those fans don't believe the hype they spew. Getting
Nu was big and Kif played it to the hilt. Losing Cobb is big, great 5* athlete. But the 'we didn't want him him anyways' is a very different view from Mack Brown stealing one from you. So which is it with the fans? Did Kif steal one from UF (I agree) and Brown stole one from Tn?

Of course MB stole one from the Kiff. Not saying that Kiffin is concerned about "stars" but he's consistently stated that he wants the #1 class. Higher "stars" make for higher classes. Cobbs' usefulness on the field is yet to be determined, but MB definately got the steal on this one.

my opinion
