'10 FL WR Chris Dunkley

Per Tharinger (who Sab... despises)

Looks like Pahokee(FL) WR Chris Dunkley will be a 3 team race between Alabama, Florida, and Florida State. Thought to be a gator lock, Dunkley really enjoyed his visit to Alabama and has since had glowing things to say about the Tide. While Florida State has always been a long shot, the transfer to Pahokee HS can do nothing but help Jimbo Fisher's efforts w/ the speedy WR. Pahokee is stocked w/ players high on the Seminoles in Richard Ash, Fred Pickett, De'Joshua Johnson, and others. The dark horse in this could be Ohio State if they go hard after the 5'11" elusive target.

That's because he is so infrequently right. This case being another example.

He says "looks like...." he doesn't guarantee.

If you know he is wrong, then you must know that Dunkley is not going to one of these teams. Do tell....

You can be wrong even while speaking of uncertainties. That concept surely isn't too difficult for you to grasp.

Actually it is a little too difficult to grasp in this situation.

Guy says "looks like....."

That is a metaphor for what he sees/hears about a particular situation.

Unless he is lying about what he sees/hears, then I'll assume his statement is accurate from the point that he is writiing what he sees / hears.

What he sees / hears may turn out to be "wrong" in that it doesn't materialize in the future. But that won't be definitive for a while. You seem to be asserting that it is definitively wrong already. My gut response is that your position is impossible to defend, however everyone looks at things through a different lens, so I thought you should have a chance to explain your point.

By what logic is Tharinger's statement "wrong".??

what it "looks like" to him can definitely be dead wrong because he may not have the same access to knowledge that another party might have. for people in the middle ages it seemed like the earth was flat...they were wrong. for tharinger it seems like tennessee is out of the running for dunkley...he's wrong.

I guess this is a bit semantic here. The guy is giving an honest appraisal of who he thinks the major players are for Dunkley. It doesn't say that Dunkley won't talk to other schools and it doesn't indicate a hard wired guarantee that's the way it will shake out.

It's just an element of the overall discussion, no different than 99% of everything else that's posted on these sites.

Feel free to disagree if you want. But it seems like Sab is taking an extraordinarily hostile stance on this guy. I think people can weed through the various commentaries and contribute their thoughts w/o needing someone to micromanage it so much.

fwiw - I'm not so pleased with the info Tharinger provides here either. Gator fans have thought Dunkley to be a very strong lean to UF for months. Moving back to the the pack is not a positive development. Nonetheless, I thought it was a worthy contribution to the thread. If Dunkley winds up at UT, then this will be a great example as to the limits of Tharinger's forecasts.
If he winds up at Alabama, then some can look back and say they heard it here first.

Just my two cents...I think Dunkley will watch what Debose does this year and if Debose is the go to type of guy on the offense, then I doubt Dunk chooses UF. He could commit though before the season starts...you never know.

Dunkley has said from the outset that he is going to wait until the end to make a decision.

Not sure that Debose' performance this year is overly decisive. Florida runs an offense with two WR in addition to the hybrid role that Debose will play. Bama and UT only play that formation on passing downs. In fact, if he comes to UT, he may be looking to take his buddy Nuke's job away.

Nuke is gone. He's a Vol. Period.

If Dunkley goes to UT, he may be competing with Nuke for a job. Simple and relevant to the Dunkley thread.

One could argue otherwise that UT might run their offense with Nuke, Dunkley and D'Joshua Johnson all on the field at the same time in spite of each being under 6' and 175#. An empty argument, but you could make it nonetheless.

There's nothing preventing the two getting on the field at the same time. Only your imagination and your hopes and dreams so that he will only go to UF so he doesn't have to compete with his buddy for that 1 spot.

You're right. There's nothing preventing them from being on the field at the same time.

But the guys who Lane is looking at for at starting WR are big one like Marlon Brown, Markeith Ambles, Demarco Cobbs, etc.

In a run heavy offense, Lane wants a big target who can shield the ball from a defender, reach the high throws and block. Don't tell me he wants to play action and throw that 12-15 yard route over the middle to Nuke.

I would never say a workhorse tailback would be best utilized at UF. Likewise a smaller has a better home at UF (unless the depth chart is too crowded.)

If you guys think Kiffin is going to run the exact same offense he ran at USC you've lost it. He'll have a similar scheme but his players on the edge will have a different makeup. If he gets the guys from S.Fla he'll have a lot of fast guys under 6'. He'll adjust this scheme to the speed we will get from þhe state of Florida. Ambles is his type of player but he'll find more of the small speed types down here in the south.

There might be some influence with Chaney to execute plays with smaller/speedier players more suited to the spread. They will look for the best means to get the ball into the hands of playmakers (I hate saying that because that is what Clawson said). Chaney was a spread guru.

We will have a pro offense, but I would not be surprised if they changed it up a little.

Well at the end of the day, an offense can't be all things to all people. If you bring in a tailback like Brown and you put in an offense which gets him 15-20 carries a game, you're probably looking at a standard set with a TE and a FB. That only leaves 2 WR.

Smaller guys are at a disavantage creating separation and gaining "space" in which to make plays from that alignment.

Maybe I'm wrong, but's it's tough to put together an alignment that is geared to a North South running attack and also creating space for small wideouts.

Your really starting to bother me Gator. The players will be able to gain separation. Our coaches won't put players in a situation to fail. This isn't the UT of old.

The problem with Nuke at UT is that UT is going to run a standard offense and it will be hard for Nuke to really excel as a true freshman. He does not know how to run routes and he is not a pure WR right now. He is about 2 years away from seeing the field as an actual WR.
CLK cut a guy loose from Manassas, VA named Thigpen and then went and signed Nuke. I'm fairly certain he saw something he really liked... and he is recruiting skill players for NOW.

apparently chris is visiting ut to make a long storyv short he sent an email to somebody i know and said he was visiting ut with someone named pete who pete is i dont know thats all the info i got. sorry its not more detailed.

who is your friend and why did chris send the email to him. thanks 4 the info though

he plays football up here now him and his family are from palm beach and he went to a football camp with dunkley and they keep in touch. His dad knew i was a big tennessee fan and we coach pee wee football together last year and i recently brought up chris and that we were interested in gettin him and he mentioned that his son went to camp with him his soph year and still talks to him occasionally. So thats how it evolved

Most people who know Nu'Keese call him Pete. He likes being called Nuke too though. He said he really doesn't care.
