Going Green: Offensive lineman Chaz Green from Tampa (Fla.) Catholic High told The Orlando Sentinel he's favoring UT.

The 6-6, 290-pound Green is also considering Florida, Ohio State and Southern California.

Green, who visited UT in October, will take official visits to Florida on Jan. 15 and USC on Jan. 22.

He plans to announce his decision on National Signing Day on Feb. 3.

Green credited UT offensive line coach James Cregg as a reason the Vols are standing out.

"He sat down and showed me where I would fit into the offense and how they would use me," Green told the newspaper. "We run a lot of the same stuff so I picked up on it quick and it was a good fit."

Honestly, I think Meyer has almost conceded Chaz to UT. It sounds like we have moved on to other OLinemen in this class if we can get any more.

I wouldn't absolutely count out Schofield opposite Douglas next year. The coaches really like him. He needs a good offseason but he could emerge as the leader at that spot. I think Chaz will back up Douglas and Cullen will be in that fight with Schofield and also Dallas Thomas.

Someone will move inside to C or OG. UT's best quality OL's are all listed at OT right now. Normally we might say they aren't big enough or strong enough... but we just witnessed the Sullins bros for the most part hold their own.

Chaz Green is a Vol. There's substantial amounts of information floating around to prove that. FLVol53 is just saying the same thing everyone else is. Just like with Luc. He wasn't the only one calling Luc to UT.

We will sign at least 2 OG prospects. Fulton and either T. Wilson or D. Robinson. Shaw will move inside as well.

Chaz, J. James, and Cullen are all 3 OT all the way.

Don't forget about Victor Thomas moving to center. He will be a senior next year & currently listed at 6-4, 286.

this has been the worst year i have ever saw for signing instate players bama,lsu,kentucky and others have signed plus stone wasnt getting enough attention from us so he is going to bama,auburn or vandy we get one instate player ,we could have gone harder after stone and then moved him to dt,since were going to get chaz,and probally cullen.

I didn't really say who would move inside... I just don't expect UT to play too many downs without a Center and two OG's. If I had to guess... I'd say they move the guys who are slower or can carry more weight inside. Among the younger guys, I doubt we know who that is. It more than likely isn't Cullen though.

Don't be so sure about Stone just yet...

According to Sab (in his Recruiting Fix article) there seems to be a serious gap between what Stone says and what his coach (Wilson) is saying...

Apparently Wilson has a serious problem with UT and is trying to steer Stone away from us....and he's telling what amounts to blatant lies about Stone's recruitment...why he would go that far is beyond me...

But you are right about the in state thing...it's just an all around bad year for in state talent...

But it looks like next year is going to be huge in that department so hopefully that will lead to a #1 class

i would like to land arie kouanjoue or however it is spelled d then we might get his brother next year he is bigger than arie,but with chaz and james the others will be bonuses and depth

Read the Stone thread. UT is still in it even though his HS coach seems to be trying to interfere with UT making a move.

It is probably the worst year for signing instate talent because there's so little of it. Tennessee seldom comes close to a proportionate number of blue chip players based on state population. Other SEC states have much lower populations (SC, MS, LA, et al) and yet produce as much if not more HS talent.

This year is no different. Tn has only 6 4* players and no 5* players. Four of the six are from Memphis which might as well be another state to a large extent. Upstate SC and Georgia are far more vital recruiting areas than Memphis.

Smith and Stone are the only two 4* players from Nashville east. Smith is hardcore Orange and Stone is considering UT.

In short, you can't recruit talent that isn't there.

To illustrate how bad it is... the #25 player in Tenn according to Rivals is a 2* prospect. The #49 player in FL is a 4*... #27 is a 4* in GA...
