'10 FL OT Chaz Green

Jamie Newberg said the Vols made up a ton of ground with Green, and that Chaz was blown away. He said it will be interesting until the end for Green...

"Tampa Catholic offensive lineman Chaz Green still is a lean to Florida, but Tennessee is making a strong push and has moved into second place ahead of USC. If anyone is going to steal Green from the Gators, it appears it will be the Vols."

this from mike farrell in the weekly whispers article on rivals...

As do I Matthew. I just hope it works out for us, and we do not strike out on a few that they have "good feelings" about, but I completely trust this staff, and I dont think that that will be the case GO VOLS!!!!!

i dont see the ayers comparison but green would be a steal..meyer wants this kid bad

farrell also said riley is a huge usc lean

I starting to get that feeling too. It's just so hard to pull a guy from Cali that USC really wants. I do think we can get Wright though. We blew him away on hisit and him and his mother are coming back for an unofficial for the USCjr. game. He's a Rivals100 guy too. Him and Riley are almost rated the exact same...

Farrell also said UT leads for JaWuan and that Orgeron is on a short list of candidates for recruiter of the year...

I'll be very interested to see what recruits we pull out of Cali this season in addition to Bray. I hope we pull Wright. I've had a good feeling about him for awhile. I don't think the recruitment of Riley matters for Wright b/c we're recruiting Wright as a CB, which is what we really need in the secondary. Everyone keeps talking about moving JJ to CB for Elam or Riley or whomever but Kiffin has publicly said that JJ is better than EB at certain aspects of his game (although of course not overall and I have a hard time believing the possibility even) in addition to thinking he could be a future AA barring injury. With that in mind, why would he move him to CB for an unproven recruit? Would UT fans be talking about moving EB to corner if he were a freshmen? I doubt it. JJ stays at free safety where he has done incredibly well as a freshmen and will soon enough dominate. In conclusion, you could say the SS spot (where Elam would probably be) is very important, but MOST importantly for the secondary would be the CB position. We prob only need one but Kiffin will want a future star. I believe Wright is that guy. I don't really think Riggs would be necessarily after hearing about what Jazz King did to him and the STA secondary. Wright is the right guy we need in our secondary. I hope we get a game-changing SS too (Elam or Ogletree--assuming his rating and everyone's hype on the guy is worthy) since EB is expected to leave after this season. I believe that is why Kiffin is making such a push for Elam. Riley seems to be a FS so I don't really understand the push for him as much...

"I do concur that IMO UT leads for Chaz at this point."

"At this point the Vols are slightly ahead for Luc IMO but Elam will be a challenge."

Michael L. and Luke S. know more about the recruits in FL than anyone else imo. I would love to get Luke's opinion on these 3...
