espn10. Chaz green, ot:
In the mix: Florida gators, florida state seminoles, usc trojans.
The tampa product, the country's no. 52 recruit, at one time was considered a strong lean to florida. Then it was a strong lean to tennessee, where both his parents went to college. However, due to the vols' coaching transition, they aren't the front-runner any more. Word is green's family has told ut don't come calling until you have an o-line coach in place. Lane kiffin's move to usc, though, does boost the trojans' shot to land green. "i have a better feel for coach kiffin than i did for coach carroll," green told the tampa tribune on jan. 14. "my feelings toward tennessee have changed a little bit but i still have to wait and see who they'll have as head coach." don't rule out uf or fsu though. However, green is scheduled to take a visit to usc this weekend.
My guess: Usc.
call it whatever you'd like. they didn't want him to take visits. they warned him of the consequences if he did. Florida followed through on a similar situation just last year. Dorsey kept it up anyway. The offer was pulled. They didn't give him an ultimatum.... they told him they were no longer holding his scholarship. Call it character questions, say they didn't want him taking visits and that's what he wanted to do, at the end of the day they cut him loose to free up a scholly.
Most people agree that Florida had conceded Chaz Green to UT months ago. Now that things have changed, Dorsey is looking for a new school. Coincidence?
I am hearing that his parents want him to stay close to home and that might seal the deal for the gators, unless Dooley can swing him. I just don't see him going to the left coast.
Ronald Powell also has been committed to the Gators for less than three weeks.Chaz Green was a Vol lock prior to Kiffin leaving. The closer teams get to NSD, the more often they have to tell players that have long been committed to look elsewhere because they get in with players late in the game due to coaching defections and other various reasons.
I believe Demar Dorsey was let go to free a scholly. He has some character issues (on the field and off) and he wanted to visit other schools. I guarantee you if Ronald Powell wanted to visit somewhere they wouldn't pull his scholly like that.

Dorsey's been in the fold for almost a year and after they felt they filled their quota at safety they began turning guys like Dietrich Riley away. It's literally almost the exact same situation as Greg Reid last year. Reid was not cut loose because Florida needed to free up a scholarship as they had a lot more room than they have now. The Florida staff, like any other staff, don't take kindly to people they've based strategic recruiting decisions on for entire year just starting to flirt with other schools. They gave Dorsey and Reid plenty of chances and just grew tired of getting jerked around this close to signing day.
you could say there's a character element to it because the prospect is jerking the staff around but if the root of the offer being pulled was character concerns then it would have been yanked long ago like Victor Hampton's.
believe whatever you'd like to believe but what happened with Dorsey has nothing to do with scholarship space. like I said we're already pursuing other safeties to fill Dorsey's spot. For Florida, Sean Henderson is not the kind of guy you plan your class balance around. if he wants in and you're filled up then you try to make something work. when you've still got at least three spots open in the class you don't preemptively go pulling offers for a guy there not a great chance you'll land.

According to his coach, UT isn't even in the running for his services...
