'10 FL OT Chaz Green

little quick stat for you guys... There have been 4 lineman drafted out of the university of florida in this decade the last being max starks in 2004. If im a lineman and hoping to go to the league i would not go to florida. That is evidence that the spread offense really hurts a guys chances to go to the league hopefully these recruits will see this

And a team like iowa has had 7 lineman drafted this decade. Now you are crazy if you think iowa actually brought in the better line prospect but that just shows how a spread offense can really hurt a kid in overall devolpment. Tennessee has had 7 drafted as well

why are the gators posts still here? We are reminded to stay on topic and other posts will be removed... his should especially be here. We come here to talk about recruiting I don't like wading through posts from retards who forgot the link to their website.

It's going to be hard to judge until 2011. I will give UT a pass for this year and even next year. I think 2011 will be the big year for you guys. We won't know much until then.

A pass? No pass necessary for this year. What they've done against UF and Bama is nothing short of astounding.... The improvement from the UF game to the Bama game is even more astounding.

Even at 3-4, there is plenty of reason to feel good about the direction of the program.

So when is it going to start? Urban has been at UF for 5 years now and he continues to get elite offensive talent. At what point will we begin to see recruits go somewhere else?

You and I both know that we will continue to get amazing talent. We are Florida and that's just the way it is.

Your offense isn't "elite" this year. Your total O avg is pumped by your OOC cream puffs. Your total O vs SEC opponents is a pretty pedestrian 382 ypg.

Your scoring O vs the SEC drops 10 pts to about 25 ppg. Most of the SEC is in that range.

If I were recruiting against UF it would go something like this: "They've gotten some of the best players in the country and what are they doing with them? Their O against conference opponents is avg. They still can't run effectively without Tebow getting large numbers of carries. Their WR's are underutilized.... and they don't play a system that's going to prepare you well for the NFL. At UT, our staff and system are going to make draft picks out of guys this year who wouldn't have had a chance a few months ago."

UF will get recruits. They are the home state school for one of the country's largest concentrations of talent... But FSU and Miami with pro-style systems will eventually get back to splitting that talent along with raiders from other states.

I don't think you guys will ever be without talent but the ebb and flow of CFB pretty much predicts you won't stay has high as you've been for the past few years.

I disagree that Miami and Florida St are getting back anytime soon to start stealing recruits from us. Right now Miami has been doing pretty well, but they did just lose to Clemson. Florida St is the worst they've been in quite a while. We did fine recruiting when both schools were doing better.

Also, this year with recruiting we are starting to get guys looking at us from places we never had a chance with a few years ago. We would have no chance for a guy like Ronald Powell from CA a couple of years ago. Yes, we will miss out on kids through negative recruiting like spread not preparing you for NFL and playing time, but we are still getting national elite talent.

Tennessee can recruit and I do see them getting top guys from Florida. It is evident that they have improved from the beginning of the year to now, though I still think it is too early to tell if Kiffin is going to be a successful coach.

Right now though, in my opinion Florida has elevated itself to the position that USC was in during the Bush and Leinart days where they seemed to get talent from wherever they wanted.

However, things can change quickly, but I think people that think that when Tebow leaves next year we are screwed will be surprised. Tebow isn't winning the games for us this year, it has been the defense and they are still young.

Florida has no first day draft picks at the skill positions you chump. Tebow may be a FB, but that is it. No wideouts or backs. Moody could not hack it at NFL U, and Demps or Rainey would get their sternums cracked in the league. Your wideouts are embarassing the likes of Quezzy, Jack Jackson, R. Anthony, Ike Hilliard and so on. Now that we have Kiffin (and this is coming from one of the biggest Fulmerite's there are) Florida may never be better than us at any spot on the field! We are not frightened in the least. Brantley better be really good, that's all I'm going to say.

While Moody hasn't played all that much at UF he didn't leave USC because he couldn't hack it. As a true freshman he started multiple games for USC, but got hurt. He left USC because of the atmosphere, not because he wasn't good enough.

As for talking about the wideouts of the past, that really is irrelevant. Meyer had nothing to do with those guys, they were coached under Spurrier. It would be like saying Kiffin won't prepare you to be successful for the NFL because of something Fulmer did. We have yet to produce great NFL talent on the offensive side of the ball, but I would look more at OL than WR under Meyer. Currently, Andre Caldwell, Louis Murphy, and Harvin have all performed pretty well this year in the NFL though they all still have a long way to go before they have made it in the NFL.

Overall though, I want guys that win games for us in college. If they don't go on to have great NFL careers then too bad, but I will take National Championships and the knock that maybe we aren't the best preparation for the NFL over, getting guys to the NFL but failing to get national championship wins.

Take USC for example, there is a pretty high correlation between these two RG :good!:

I agree. I am just saying that if I was forced to have one or the other I will take the one that results in National Championships. I don't believe the statement that we won't prepare kids to get to the NFL, because it has only been 4 years going on 5 that Urban has been here. You need a much higher sample size before any correlation can be drawn. Now that Meyer has been here 4+ years, he has his recruits on the team so if he doesn't get them to the NFL then I am fine with the statement that we don't prepare kids for the NFL. I just think you need 10-15 years before you can make the statement. If in 15 years all the guys that came out of Florida perform poorly in the NFL then it is more likely that we have not prepared them the best to succeed in the NFL, but right now it is too early IMO.

The sad thing is, most coaches rarely stay at one university this long. It's a win now or go home, instant gratification business

And he left because the guy who was supposed to be the next Reggie Bush was coming in. He saw the writing on the wall and split. I know he said he didn't like the atmosphere, but what do you expect? "I'm a wuss and was afraid I was gonna spend the next 3 years on the bench."

Its kind of like when you guys lose out on Green, Luc or whoever. The official party line will be, "We stopped recruiting them because they're not that good, don't fit our system, have bad attitude, etc."

Everyone knows the truth, but you have to say something to save face.

I agree with this, way too many Gator fans just say oh we didn't want him which is total crap. We definitely want both Green and Luc, they may not be the top player on our board at either position but we most certainly want them on our team. For example, Nukeese nobody can convince me that we did not want him, we did but you guys got him as recruiting goes some of the time.

I also agree with the earlier poster that said 70/30 UT leads for Chaz. Both teams are going to fight for him til the end but I see the UT connections winning at the end.

Unfortunately every team has their share of ignorant fans, it just seems that UF has the most. Either way i respect your posts. Good stuff! It's nice to hear a realistic fan of another team give their opinions.

My comments were not a dig at gator fans, but at fans in general. We got 'em too.

If you are (un)lucky enough to actually find an Auburn fan, they are the worst imo. They kill me on Rivals...

One of my friends is a Gator fan and he thinks UGA fans are the worst. Cocks fans are bad too. I mean...How can you talk trash when you have absolutely nothing to brag about.

LOL! you just did it again... We want them but we want other players more. That is a flat out lie. There is no player higher up on the board at LB than Jeff Luc and thats a fact!

100% Agree about the Cock fans. I live in Charleston now and am surrounded by them everyday. Every year they play nobody the first half of the season and begin talking like they are a top 10 team. They then get into the meat of their schedule and lose all their games down the stretch. I HATE GAMECOCK FANS!!!
