Unless Askew has an undisclosed injury, redshirting him would be against the stated policy of Coach Kiffin. Kiffin hates redshirting people until the end of the year, because he thinks it makes them quit practicing and working out as hard and they may become needed due to injury.

That is my understanding as well!

There have already been some players who have been notified that they are redshirting. They aren't technically redshirted yet, but they will be at the end of the year. Kiffin just doesn't want to redshirt them and then need them midway through the year. Askew is one of them. From all reports, King is quite a ways ahead of Askew...

No, he doesnt discuss red shirts until the first game. That way the players dont stop trying and they learn more and get better and push everyone else. Obviously they couldnt wait till the end of the season because kids would have to not play in any games to get a red shirt.

Why does everyone forget about Irvin? He is 240 and runs something ridiculous like a 4.3. Sounds like he needs to be a running back.

No one is forgetting about Irvin. There's a chance he'll start next year.

Irvin won't be a running back for the simple fact that he takes great pleasure in punishing opposing ball carriers.

P.S. Irvin is a speedy guy, especially for his size. But, he's not 4.3 speedy.

Sab, he could play any LB position in Monte's system but the MLB spot would be perfect for him. He has the speed to pass cover the middle gap. Important in Monte's scheme.

i know people will cut me up for this... but i am not sold on Luc being a perfect fit for monte's system.

Monte knows best. And CLT is learning from the best. Our D is stout and hopefully get Luc or Shirley will make it stouter.
