'10 FL CB Cody Riggs

“I enjoyed myself a lot,” Riggs said. “It was a lot of fun and I really got along great with the coaches. That was a big thing. I really like coach Eddie Gran and Lane Kiffin. They talked with me how I’d fit in at Tennessee and that’s what I was looking for during the game too. I definitely saw how they’d be able to use me at corner and safety. I could help out.”

Riggs was supposed to visit Florida on Sept. 19 for the Tennessee game, but says he’s not taking that trip. “It was a misunderstanding,” he said. “I’ll visit Florida some other time.”

“I’m hoping that game is close,” Riggs said. “I think it will be. I’m pretty sure that Tennessee has got something up their sleeve and will be ready. The coaches have been talking about this game for a long time.”

Riggs says he now favors Florida solidly over Tennessee, Georgia and Notre Dame.

Per Scout... I don't quite know what to make of this. He visits UT. Then he cancels his trip to UF this week, a trip that he has planned on for months and to a school that is in his backyard. Then he says Florida is still his leader...:ermm:

Yeah... that's some weird stuff. Sounds like he is playing Florida or he already knows that's where he is going to go so he doesn't need to visit. It sounds like he is fond of the Tennessee coaches so maybe he'd feel bad cheering on the other side lines the following week. Or, he will be cheering for Tennessee so he doesn't want to be on Florida's sidelines. :p

Who really knows though. That is definitely weird.

It was a simple mixup, he thought he was set for his OV this weekend and he was not, that simple and confirmed that for me again tonight. Dont read anything into Riggs not being able to attend this weekend.

That is definitely odd but hey maybe he just has his mind made up and he just wanted to see if another school could change his mind. The UT experience wasn't enough to convince him.

Why is he not visiting? He had it planned for months. It had to be a screw up on UFs part if that's true...

i was thinking the same. The whole article is about how much he likes UT and how he thinks he could really help them out and thrive in their system. Then it just ends saying that now Florida is way out in front? that doesnt make sense.

UF screwed up his official date. Everyone thought it was this weekend, it isn't. He'll likely visit for the FSU game along with Powell, Luc, Owamagbe Odighizuwa, and a few others.

It could be a situation similar to the Nuke situation but I doubt it. UF is a odd pick for Riggs though, especially considering Lamarcus Joyner is suddenly giddy over the Gators.

How would it be similar...Riggs isn't committed to anyone. Nuke pulled a NSD switch...Riggs has nothing to switch from.

Heavy lean towards Gators, switches to UT after visiting. Not saying it's the exact same situation, hence the term similar.

As I said though, it's an odd situation. Both he and Joyner being high on the Gators? They'd be fighting for the same spot on the roster.

In the end, I think the Gators get Joyner and UT gets Riggs.

Don't count out FSU with Joyner. Although it seems as if a number of prospects who were once leaning towards FSU are wavering after they've witnessed the product FSU fields.

BTW, Riggs is a better cover corner than Joyner, in fact Joyner plays safety for STA. Joyner is a tad bit overrated imo. Riggs is the better player.

Joyner probably is going to play safety in college. Riggs is a better corner. I think we are 3rd for Joyner behind FSU and OSU, I say we have a better shot at Riggs who is a little small for Vance Bedford but the kid is a playmaker and can really cover.

If you look at most articles on those "team specific" sites....if the kid is constantly talking about another team during it, they always try to somehow end on a "positive" note. Id like to get this kid....fortunately for us, we had such a great DB class for 09 it wouldnt be devastating to miss on him. If I had to choose, I would take Riley anyways.

I too think Riggs is a better CB. I think Joyner will play S for whomever he sings with. Riggs has mad ball skills....

Im goin on a limb, and I said from day one, Joyner to the Shoe! Riggs will follow his big bro.

One of the recruiting gurus on DraftCountdown posted today (well, technically yesterday) that Riggs had switched his silent commitment from Florida to Tennessee.

Take it FWIW as of now, since it is a silent commit rumor that won't be confirmed publically, but I'll ask him about where he got it from.
