As much as I liked, no loved the Nukeese shock-the-world agreement, I'm afraid it will provide us with lots of possible heartbreak in the future due to the "all the signs are pointing towards ___, but these factors favor UT and CLK is probably pulling a Nuke" factor. I know Pete Carroll is in favor of secret agreements to reduce negative recruiting. I wonder if we're going to start seeing more and more of this.

Two slants on Kiffin's demeanor lately:

1) We aren't getting him because Kiffin hasn't seemed pumped about it lately in interviews/appearances like he was about BB and JJ.

2) We could be going through another Nukeese secret agreement deal, and Kiffin doesn't wanna reveal his hand.

The glass half full/half empty is there for whoever wants it.

Secret agreement theory doesn't really work for this situation. He will commit Wednesday, but put nothing in writing til February, so we don't gain anything by him keeping it a secret a couple more days.

exposure since he's annoucning on espn and on the start of sec media day.

I'm not ready to buy into the media days thing yet, although it does provide an interesting pov.

Exposure is the main thing. Scrog said himself that he wants his commitment to be well-publicized in order to provide a boost in recruiting to the school of his choice. I know that we are all (or most) guilty of dissecting every word to come out of his mouth for a morsel of indication. This is the line that probably gave me the most optimism, seeing as how we need the offensive recruiting boost right now. (more than USC/UF)

ok haha. i dont have any sources or information or anything sorry but yall got my word that he will be a vol. its my belief and iv never been so sure about a prospect like i have with scroggins or i wouldnt say anything. but on wednesday since most vol fans think he is going to usc. im telling most of yall will be shocked

lol Alright now you done got me excited about wed. but thats good to kno!

I thnk we should just stop praying for JS...I think he's USC and there has been little to show why he would come to UT. Unless he just really loves the coaching staff here more than USC, that is the only way he comes. But it is nice to imagine JS handing off to BB for a TD or JS playaction fake to a wideout.

I'm talking about a spotlight on him personally not standing in the general vicinity of a spotlight shone on a program in general and star players specifically. If he goes to USC there's a good chance he'll be largely forgotten for a couple of years and possibly his entire career.

If he goes to UT, he'll be the first big QB recruit of this new staff and the first guy to establish himself as the guy to beat among future recruits. If this program is revived he'll be regarded as a key component of that revival. There's a potential great story to be a key contributor to at UT. At USC, at best, he'd be another good QB in a line of very good QBs. If he doesn't start at least one year, have outstanding numbers and win a championship at USC his career would be considered rather mediocre.

At UT, if he and this staff were to get this program to an SEC championship by his Junior/Senior year the state would be going wild and he'd probably have a street named after him or at least he'd be immortalized as the guy who helped lead this program back to where Payton and Tee had it.

Having said all that, I still have no idea where's he's going and am resigned that he'll probably make the safe choice with USC.

Not to be rude or anything.... but who is this ooltewahvols and why do you guys believe anything he says. Has he stated anything in here that makes him seem credible?

Stop by the recruiting forum, then go to the Scroggins thread. There is over 8,500 posts worth of information and should have anything and everything you wish to know about the man from Lakewood, CA.:hi:

Along with anything and everything you could care less about random off topic chatter and inside "had to be there" jokes....

I'll answer the posters question in a nut shell, which is much more helpful than referring them to a thread junked up with 8,500+ post... not a bash directed towards you or your attempt to help this guy, but more a bash towards that thread in general and its management…

It's down to USC and Tennessee (and technically FL but I highly doubt he goes there, but you never know....). I've heard his pops favors USC and his Moms favors Tennessee (or at least wouldn't mind if he went there due to her families tie to the southeast...) His best friend, Dion Bailey just committed to USC and he's spoke about the importance of playing together with him.

It was rumored that he'd announce last week at the 7 on 7 camp, but didn't, however Dion did, and now we find out that the reason Jesse didn't announce was because his father couldn’t be there, thus why he moved his announcement date to this wend instead of this sat.

So to me, it sounds like they (Dion and Jesse) have made their minds up... that's why I think it's all USC, but we'll see......

Getting to a SEC Championship game by his jr/sr year would be 4 or 5 yrs from now............You really think UT fans will wait that long??

I don't.....They want it sooner than that , or the moving vans will be in front of CLK's house like they did to Bill Battle.

Not really, I guess it's just the fact he's from the same school that Jsmith goes to and we want to believe what he says about what he kno's/think's about Scroggins! It's not the fact that we believe him it's just that we want to!

I don't think we'll have much choice personally. It will be year three in this rebuild before we have any type of shot at all at even getting to the SCG...that is 2011. The 2009 season is a transitional one, 2010 will be a real struggle and possibly a step back record wise from 2009 as we break in a very young Oline and possibly a Freshman QB and other young Kiffin staff recruits across the roster. 2011 will be year two with mostly Kiffin staff players with at least a year and in some cases two under their belts. Year I think it will be 4 years before we can start talking SEC championships. Getting their will be half the fun. Enjoy the ride at least it has a decent chance of trending up versus the down trend we've been on with a couple of dead cat bounces that were confused as progress.

hate to play the devils advocate ,but what if Scroggins is doing it on sec media days for a reason....he gives Urban Meyer another level of arrogance going into the media days and Urban planned it to rub it in Kiffins face as maybe a bigger payback of Nuke

If the program is still progressing at year 3 and 4 and recruiting is strong and the product on the field is exciting, I doubt there'll be moving vans for Kiffin and staff. If by year 5 we're not sniffing a SEC Championship, then all bets are off.

That would suck really bad but I dout it!

I was just sitting here thinking the same thing. Paranoia setting in.

Well really we give credit to ooltewahvol not ooltewahvols. They are two different people. We believe what he says because he is the QB for ooltewah and talks to Jac Smith at football practice. He is not starting this year for Ooltewah because he is injured, but still talks to jac at school.
