I'm talking about a spotlight on him personally not standing in the general vicinity of a spotlight shone on a program in general and star players specifically. If he goes to USC there's a good chance he'll be largely forgotten for a couple of years and possibly his entire career.
If he goes to UT, he'll be the first big QB recruit of this new staff and the first guy to establish himself as the guy to beat among future recruits. If this program is revived he'll be regarded as a key component of that revival. There's a potential great story to be a key contributor to at UT. At USC, at best, he'd be another good QB in a line of very good QBs. If he doesn't start at least one year, have outstanding numbers and win a championship at USC his career would be considered rather mediocre.
At UT, if he and this staff were to get this program to an SEC championship by his Junior/Senior year the state would be going wild and he'd probably have a street named after him or at least he'd be immortalized as the guy who helped lead this program back to where Payton and Tee had it.
Having said all that, I still have no idea where's he's going and am resigned that he'll probably make the safe choice with USC.
