I am sure Jesse knows too! Go away!!!

why do I need to go away? When I first came on this board, I was welcomed as I was able to give an different look out here on the west coast. We are now less than 48 hours away from countdown and you now want me to go away?

Talk about bitter bob!

Again if he commits to USC this week it doesn't mean he doesn't come to UT. Look at it this way. Commit to USC all pressure off you now. Especially from family, friends, coaches, and anyone else that wanted him to go to the backyard school USC. He now focuses on the season without all them pressuring him, because if he does commit to UT I could imagine is senior season wont be so enjoyable. The fact is UT might not get a QB to commit before NSD and so if Kiffin can show some results that the future is bright at UT than who knows what will happen come NSD. Brown commited afterwards. UT only needs a 7 win season with a win or two against some better programs in the SEC. That right there will show alot to people. In 2007 at UA we went 7-6 and we signed the #1 recruiting class according to some sites.

I still feel like it smells like a Kiffin press conference coming up. Kiffin wants publicity and what better way to get it than to get a commit from a top QB out of CA who is going to turn down the almighty USC. So I believe he chooses UT and like others have said why would he need a big press conference to commit to USC. Maybe the kid has a big ego who knows but he is a kid and why not live for the moment.

Also who cares when he commits. I understand UT needs a QB but alot of kids wait until NSD, why should his be any different. Lets not hope he is announcing to commit because everyone is pressuring for a commit now and than later decommits. Think about all the pressure that will come off of him. He might be just trying to get people to leave him alone.

Interesting post given your perspective. I agree that the press-conference seems over the top for a USC commitment. I mean, its obvious that if he's USC bound he's going to be behind a few other stud QBs... and he's not even in the top 5 QBs in this class. Its kind of presumptuous and over the top if he's staying in Compton.

On the other hand, given the state of our program... the press conference is a very, very big deal if he commits to Tennessee.

The timing is critical for us because we need some momentum recruiting on the offensive side of the ball. Kids appear to be hesitant to commit without a well-regarded QB commodity.

Both or these post make some very good points. I personally think Scroggins is headed to USC, but you guys make good points.

Come on Tidewarrior oops trojan guy I just get confused between your two personalities. You are here gloating now. You have nothing of value to say any longer. Come back an gloat one more time after announcement. Unless you have info, I do not think you will get a friendly discussion here.

QUICK!!! somebody go paint the rock something ridiculously crazy about scroggins and post it on every website possible including his facebook, myspace, twitter, etc. WE NEED SCROGGINS!!!

One other point right now the majority of the best players in the country want to play in the SEC. It helps that most of them reside in the south, but still everyone wants to play here now, because every team is getting so much national exposure. Couple that with the new signing limits and we see alot of programs already filling up their rosters. This leaves alot of players still wanting into the SEC. Even for an off year that UT is coming off most players still see UT in the top five for programs in the conference, especially when it comes to where you want to play. I don't think not getting a QB early will hurt that much. This is where players want to play and this conference has seen so many top recruits from outside the south list SEC programs in their final list. Also with so many commiting early this year it helps programs like UT get players because they already see the best commiting to the conference. Whether Scroggins pans out or not the fact is UT will have a top ten recruiting class. The only factor for it not is if Kiffin and his staff can't perform on the field in the fall. I might be a Bama fan but I can recognize a quality staff and I think they will get it done. It might not be a 10 win season but like I said before you only need 7 wins.

It is possible that Scroggins commits to UT on Wednesday, but I think that some of you guys think that if you hope it hard enough or say it enough times, it will happen. I know that as you think about it 'logically', you can only conclude that he should go to UT. It seems to make no sense, if the kid wants to play, that he would go anywhere else.

I just think that the distance factor is not weighted heavily enough in these evaluations. Kids typically stay close to home. We have recruited some west coast QBs in the past, but these kids have typically come from families that could afford to make it out to games, or make it out in the summer to actually see their kid (keep in mind, most of these kids are going to stay in Knoxville for almost the entire summer). Some kids do it, but it is an extremely hard choice...and one that can easily trump playing time, particularly if the close-to-home coaches are telling you that you'll have a shot to battle for the #1 spot...and you are being recruited by UF, UT, AND USC....so you think you're pretty good.

Like I said, Scroggins has a lot of reasons to choose UT...and he may just do it. But, don't undervalue the weight that proximity to home has on these decisions. Heck, Urban Meyer is probably also in his ear, improving USC's chances while 'recruiting' him to UF. We'll see how it goes on Wednesday...but I'm just not seeing it.

We will take a JUCO this year, or maybe a HS kid who shines during his senior season..but it's going to be a bit rocky on rocky top in the QB front for a few years. The staff will probably just be in emergency mode..trying to make sure they have enough arms to run practice in the spring. Then, try to find a decent backup for Stephens for 2010....and then hope that that person can play part of 2011 until our *hopefully* allstar can take over after a few games...

as a gauge and as of this moment in time, 50 of Rivals top 100 players are committed. 72% of them are committed in the state they live in...

It has been suggested that we all change our avatars to pictures of the kid. General Neyland must be spinning in his grave about now.

All signs point to him picking USC and that our coaching staff has known this for the last week. I understand why he is going to USC. I wish him luck because he seems to be a good guy. Now will he signed with USC on signing day? That is a different story (I would say 1 in 4 chance he signs with another team).

however 9 of the 13 committed 4 star pro style qb's have committed out of state this year...

While I still think he's going to be a Trojan, I do find it interesting that he plans to announce as the SEC Media Days begin. Talk about timely publicity if he should shock the world and commit to the Vols.

If here were going to commit to TN during SEC media days, I would rather he do it during the Thursday 2nd section, aka the Urban Meyer time slot.

Well he is announcing on wednesday on CollegeFootballLive on espn if I'm not mistaken. If so... CFL is on every weekday. If he's been decided that long why not do it sooner. Why not later. We may be looking way to far in it..... or maybe not. Who knows. My gut says he's all vol but my mind says USC. I just can't wait for him to sign. Hopefully everything turns out well

Two slants on Kiffin's demeanor lately:

1) We aren't getting him because Kiffin hasn't seemed pumped about it lately in interviews/appearances like he was about BB and JJ.

2) We could be going through another Nukeese secret agreement deal, and Kiffin doesn't wanna reveal his hand.

The glass half full/half empty is there for whoever wants it.
