Maybe in 4 years.

I say USC, but I think it's really close and it wouldn't surprise me if it was us. I just think USC has the hometown edge and there's no way to recruit against that.

cal's top recruiting analyst is of the belief that scroggins wants to get out of california. i have no what the basis for that opinion is, but that is what he said recently.

I think in the past, the volnation would be conceding this one already, but with the way that some of these have gone down since CLK has been here (i.e. Nuke, BB) we all have at least a little hope that this is just another planned shocker.

I agree with Hubbs! When jesse came here after the Fla. visit some of our players said all he was talking about was Fla. His facebook message leads me to believe he wants out of Cali.JMO

What are the odds that USC signs another ultra elite QB to play before that 4th year even gets here?

That's 3 more recruiting classes behind Scroggins and before his opportunity to start. As far as I understand, CPC doesn't use a seniority system to make such decisions.

Is it possible that Scroggins isn't the QB we've made him out to be?

This doesn't even feel like an NFL bound decision-making thread anymore.

The odds are actually pretty bad if Scroggins commits. You usually don't see a top 5 QB follow another top 5 QB in successive years, but you almost NEVER see it happen 3 years concurrently.

I hope he's right. I just hope he don't end up getting out of california and landing in Florida.

I have never been worried about FL until recently when Hubbs said what he said and when I heard about the late night call with Meyer, which supposedly took place. I just hope Scroggins isn't laying low on UF and not talking about them much and then in the end he shocks everyone. Kind of like when Nuke left UT still committed to UF and didn't talk much and on NSD he signed with the Vols.

Wasn't it his HS teammate who said he was talking very highly of UT after his visit here (after the UF trip)?

Part of me wishes that we were his last visit. I think he is starting to be one of those kids that is impressed with every school he visits (not that most kids would not be with the 3 he is down too), thus giving the last school the last impression.

You never know for sure, but many are suggesting that Scroggins will be in it for the top overall QB ranking potentially. He will only get better his senior year. He will be a good QB.

That's a good point. If for some reason Corp remains the #1 QB this year and has a spectacular year and Barkley redshirts, Scroggins might never see the field while there. I don't think Barkley will redshirt, but I'm just playing the what if game.

Carroll has a history of playing the qb who has been in the system longer too. the same can't be said for every other position at SC.

It doesn't have to be 3 years in a row.

USC could skip a class and sign a Barkley-like midterm enrollee in the class of 2012 who could beat out Scroggins just as Barkley may beat out Corp this year. If Barkley doesn't beat out Corp and Mustain is deemed suitable as a backup, Barkley could redshirt and give USC another year to skip.

It's just a high risk decision to go into such an already talent-laden environment and ignore the reality that USC may well get another top 5 QB of Barkley's ilk.

From what he said about Barkley this spring, it sounded like Matt had a shot at starting this fall. But, if he redshirts Matt, how does that help Scroggins?

Barkley is the real deal.

I agree and I have previously stated that I didn't believe Scroggins would follow Barkley to USC, but by most accounts he is leaning towards doing exactly that. It would be stupid, but he may actually do it. I just can't account for it. Logic says he will commit to the Vols.

To bad in this case that logic does not always seem to prevail in the mind of a HS kid.

barkley threw more ints than TDs his senior year in HS and preceeded to throw lots of INTs in SCs spring practice. If barkely sees the field this year, SC is in deep trouble IMO. corp is a stud and if he plays well i can't see carroll benching him in favor of barkley next year. no matter what happens scroggins isn't going to the see the field soon unless we see a lot of injuries.

Perhaps, unfortunately, we're in total agreement.

But with Bryce, ultimately logic ruled. Maybe that will happen with Scroggins, but it feels more emotional and less reasoned than did Bryce's decision.
