Yeah, with all that success he has he sure needs to. It's normal for a coach to tell a kid that he can beat out another, if the coach didn't believe in who they were recruiting then it would just be about who's riding the bench and not about competing for the job. That's where Carroll is so successful, making kids believe.

I am just ready for this to be over. If it's Scroggins, great! If not, let's get Rettig and Nick and start selling them to the other offensive recruits that UT needs.

even if he thinks corp or barkley has more talent that doesn't mean pete doesn't want a backup plan. this is why he takes 4 rbs every year.

I felt sick reading this. I hope this doesn't end like the deal with Leak. If this kid goes to UF it would be the meltdown of all meltdowns. I don't see it myself. Again, I think he is a Vol already!

That's what I am wondering. What is PC telling these kids that USC is getting? There is no way all these kids believe they are gonna step right in and play. They are like 6 deep at every position. Hopefully Scroggins doesn't fall for it. Sounds like Hubbs thinks Florida is the school to worry about anyways, and not USC.

Scroggins doesn't have any faves. It's all even. Theres three teams - UF, UT, and USC. All have there pros and cons. All we know is he will make a descion some time in the next month. Nobody knows anything else.

With the time line changing I think he will head to USC! I hope he picks us but at least he gives us time to move on.

I keep wondering if this is part of some character assault on Scroggins.

But, I guess if one has to pick a Gator QB, choosing one like Leak with a nonexistent NFL career is better than say, Rex Grossman, who's known around the world as an utter failure as the NFL QB who couldn't handle snaps on a SuperBowl team.

And, the whole idea that we are interested in a QB who wants to play in UF's system makes we wonder how that could be possible. One system limits players to the glory of college football (not bad for those who lack NFL potential), while the other is designed to advance players to the League.

Does Scroggins lack confidence in his ability to make it the NFL and thus he is discounting that part of this decision?

a couple of factors. we switched to the 3-4 last year and finally have a dominant defense and an exciting defense for playmakers. our dline coach we hired last year is an elite recruiter. many expect big things this year from cal (multiple top-10 preseason rankings). we have new training facilities being built. our old facilities were horrible.

Did they cut those people out of those trees next to the stadium to get the new facilities in???

I'm not Sab, but I don't think he starts with the trojans as long as Barkley is there. That kid is the real deal. If Scroggins chooses USC, he better plan on playing backup for a few years, IMO.

I like Pete Carroll and all, but I can't see why Jesse would want to go there. There's already a couple of young QBs there. There's no guarantee that Barkley will leave early. In fact, based on the way Pete acted when Sanchez left early, I'd have to think Pete will advise against it.

if cal's qb goes from horrible to elite (not impossible since he has nfl talent, but not likely either) then definetly since we get them at home and early in the season. if he goes from horrible to ok then it depends if corp is the real deal (if barkely is starting by the cal game i'd argue cal has a big advantage). our defense, special teams, and running game are going to be elite.

Maybe in 4 years.

I say USC, but I think it's really close and it wouldn't surprise me if it was us. I just think USC has the hometown edge and there's no way to recruit against that.

the tree idiots weren't actually the problem. it was the city and the people around the stadium who sued ot get the facilities delayed. once the judge ruled they didn't have a case the treetards were down within days and contruction began almost immediately.

A lot of people seem to point to the fact that he does not appear to be bothered by the depth chart at USC. The way I read the most recent quotes, he was basically conceding the fact that he thought Barkley would be the starter while he was there. It seemed he was holding out more hope that Barkley would be the real deal and be gone in 3 years.
